There is a 'button' on the site which directs users to it, but I think you're right in that there should be a news post.

When I get the chance I'll post one up!

you could also do an in-game announcement, for all the people who play but dont look at website or forums. (also, you should advertise more in the game that the forums exist, I dont think alot of people know about em)
