Hey Everyone,
This is a discussion on Mob Family classifications for the Wiki. To provide an alternative way to search for Mobs in the Bestiary, we want to allow people to search Mobs by not only Area and Level, but by Family as well. The only problem is, we don't know how the Community would like to classify each and every Mob. For example: what family would a Crookback be considered? Would it belong to the humanoid family, the goblin family, or it's own family simply called Crookback? At that rate, what would you consider the Bonehead variations? Does a Bonehead belong to the same family as a Crookback, or is it something separate such as Bonehead, Goblin Lord, etc?
This discussion is for the people to tell us how you would like all Mobs in game classified. Please share your thoughts. For the listing of Mobs, click this link: http://celticheroesfanatics.wikia.com/w ... ry_By_Area
Re: Wiki Mob Family Discussion
#2In the case of the crookback example:
Crookback is the area, so it could defeat the purpose of a new search criteria
However, crookback and connachts are the exception, as Stonevale and Lir's are home to several groups.
So I guess some families would be:
Wisps
Boars
Skullcrushers
Skeletons
Connachts
Crookbacks
Blackstones
Wyverns
Golems
Eyes
Etc. However, the humanoid idea or something similar could be viable as well, as some mobs might slip through the holes, like the architect in Crookback.
Humans
Humanoids(non-human)
Undead
Animals
Spirits
etc. this could work better, but some categories would have a massive amount of entries. Also, people may not be completely sure which family mobs belong to.

#3They could just as easily be put into different classifications of mobs.

Re: Wiki Mob Family Discussion
#4One of the reasons I want to classify according to family is so that people can search for a Crookback Mob that is located in not only Crookback Hollow, but Lir's Reach as well. Just the same as an Eye is located in OW and Lir's Reach. Connacht's are located in Shalemont Ravine and Lir's Reach. Horses are located in OW and Stovevale. Blackstones are located in almost every area. Just some examples of multi-area same family Mobs. This game is getting larger and larger and odds are many of these Mobs of the same families will be implemented into new areas as well.In the case of the crookback example:
Crookback is the area, so it could defeat the purpose of a new search criteria

If the Community wants to classify Mobs simply as Eyes, Skeletons, Horses, etc. that would make things very easy. The only question is how to classify ambiguous Mobs? What would you consider a Darkfell? Is it the same family as a Bandit or its own class? Is a Bonehead the same family as Crookback or does it belong to a sub family like Crookback Giant/Overlord?
It's the ambiguous Mobs that I'm really struggling classifying like the Blackstones - should they be their own class or Humanoid as a bandit. We could always do Bandit, Blackstone, Darkfell as all separate classes, but where would the arena mobs go? Hopefully you see my dilemma haha.
Re: Wiki Mob Family Discussion
#5I would say Connachts, Blackstones, Skullcrushers, Hagvar & Acolytes would be Humans as they are Humans. (Maybe Acolytes, Arch-Disciples, Disciples, Avatar, Elders, Incarnation of Avatar, Shadowbloods, Dark Confessors, the guards at both Shiver and Avatar rooms, Scryers, Jotun Hammers, Deadroot, Falgreen, Brutus, Herald, & Bloodgrove/Frostbringer Druids could be Humanoids since their eyes are not the colors of those with Human eyes - their eyes are red or yellow)In the case of the crookback example:
Crookback is the area, so it could defeat the purpose of a new search criteria

Spirits

I would say Crookbacks would be Goblins as they look like Goblins.
The Undead armor mobs (Cronus, Gastor, Darkon, Polgrot, Enteron, Revolvor, Spletch, Varthan, Wurmscum, Thossos, Cynoth, Scabbor, Mordum, Pustulon, and Lazarath) should also include the Skeletons and Corpses (The 2 groups that you go through to get to Darkon and Polgrot) as they are dead and walk among the living.
Golems & Trees - you can say Elementals since some golems are of made of rocks (earth) and some golems are lava magnum (fire) and trees can [represent] nature. You could easily classify the golems as: Elemental - Golems (rock), Magnums (fire)
When you say Spirits, are you referring to the ghosts at the Dustwither Catacombs graveyard &/or OW? If so, Spirits would be quite unique - even though they are called that - since most people call them ghosts.
Don't forget about:
Faeries

Re: Wiki Mob Family Discussion
#8Oh, so noobish feeling is gone! haha! Solarus, if you ever need help or just advice with any of the database kind of stuff, let me know. I am developed my clan's forums full of information and being OCD & ADHD (which kinda works together but at the same time defeats each other), I am so detailed oriented. For example, the 5 Evasion Skills quests from the Statues, I have images & the identity of the Statue that starts and finishes the quest & map locations (as well as description on how to find the Statues), images & identity of mob(s) to kill & map locations [as well as description on how to find the mob(s)] if applicable, images & identity of what item(s) needed to collect and how many to have of each item, and lastly, identifying the evasion skill that will be acquired with a description of what that skill does, examples of what spells/skill works with that evasion skill and (even though not completely done yet) identify what mob(s) is best to kill to level that evasion skill up. I do the same thing for all of the quests. We have it by area and level already, we don't have it by family yet. You were on the right track in your first post hahaI feel like a noob, I didn't see how you wanted it by area. My bad.Hey Everyone,
