Any new players enjoying this game?

#1
We all know that most people on the forum have been playing since early update 3,if not update 1 & 2.

Well,what about the new players?
Are you able to play effectively?
Can you do the bosses you require with just one group?
If you are under level 100 I assume you haven't bought plat, what is it like to play without lux and plat items?

I only ask because when I started in update 2,you didn't need plat and lux items to enjoy this game, I levelled my warrior from 1 to 80 by simply grinding without an ammy or plat items, all I could afford was a bodkin and happily tanked and levelled at a sensible pace without needing full lux and exilars.

We all know that lux, and exilars are a necessity now for 120+ but what about newbies?

To be honest, I don't own any luxury items.

From October 2011, I stopped playing due to other dedications. When I logged on again at Christmas, everyone was so far ahead and I'm not bothered about catching up with them anymore because I've realised how much more enjoyable it is to play at my own pace when I'm bored at home.

I have to say, playing without luxury items isn't easy, even at level 97. I have to re-heal and re-energise after killing every enemy so it takes me about 5 minutes to kill each enemy and move on to the next. I level up once every 5 hours or so when I try. I find very few online people at my level willing to level with me.

It isn't ideal, but I mainly play Celtic Heroes for the other features besides levelling: the bosses, the other players, helping out lower levels, exploring new areas. The thing that keeps me going the most is seeing the new content in the future, and seeing how the game can develop, especially as I've been playing soon after its launch.

I see levelling as a chore, and same with obtaining gold. When I do it, the first thing that comes to mind is a small child saying "do I HAVE to?" (no lie), and then after half an hour I get bored. I can't even begin to imagine what it would be like to be a non-luxury, non-platinum player over 120!

Don't get me wrong, I love Celtic Heroes and am really excited about its future but I think something that needs to be looked at is whether there are luxury item vendors or necessity item vendors. Admin talked about the game not being profit-driven, but the design of the platinum store and gold sinks like luxury vendors makes anyone believe otherwise. If you're not able to spend on the game, you get little out of it. This isn't the first time I've expressed this opinion and probably won't be the last. I hate cynical, whiny posts on the forums and this probably is one, but I've tried to point out the specific areas. :)

Is there really a point to this post and the way you said it? Because it seems to me that you are dissing OTM and all the hard work they have put into this game. Most people like update 4 alot
Try retreading it.
I'm saying that if things are hard for us now, what are they like for people just starting out?
I'm not "dissing" OTM, I'm simply implying that the game is too hard for newbies to get a foot on the ladder.

Sad to say but without good friends to enjoy the game with i dont really see many ppl playing it for long if they are just starting out. The reason why i say this is because the moment they join the game and start to see everyone and how high of lvl some are they will realize it just gets harder and harder to play the game. After they get to the point of needing discs they will realize just how hard the game is especially without lux and the amount of time to get enough gold for the lux is enormous if u dont buy plat so much that they shouldnt have a heroic ammy by lvl 110-120 and thats if they arent buying upgrade items or armor. Its pretty sad that now u pretty much need a group to continuously lvl if u have no lux unless u want to spend several minutes of downtime between kills which lets face it will turn more away from the game. What i mean is u need a little rest to revive hp and energy depending on the class and what lvl this can take ages and porting to the tavern after every kill gets annoying.

I used to lvl without any regen up until about 70 before update 3 and was pretty close to stop playing myself but i decided to buy some plat bought idols and traded them for a heroic ammy. After i got the ammy my game play really increased i could spend little down time between kills and i could actually enjoy the game for a bit. This helped but without a decent clan to enjoy boss killing with the game is still boring and less face it ppl dont just randomly form a group and kill a boss its 90% either clan only or ur asked for help by another small group of ppl who are all in one clan.

OTM did great with the new content and it is really enjoyable but the problem is the fact u have to use some regen to even enjoy the game without it ur bound to quit. To me if this is really the case then the problem is how the game is which starts at the lowest lvls which only increases as the lvling gets bigger if they can manage to solve this then i think many of our current problems would be solved. For example if ur down time between fights was a set time meaning u regen a set % of ur hp and energy this would allow many at high lvls to continue to train with the same time of downtime between kills without sigils. Of course sigils should increase this but all need to have a relatively short downtime without them while those with enough should have near no downtime.

Yes, enjoying it so far. Just hit lvl 60 on my dps druid and I have a few others in the 20's to 30's.

I will say that downtime is increasing more and more as I regen, only saved 30k so far so a long way before I can afford lux items. I find that without a decent weapon the melee classes are much slower and harder to level than the caster classes so far. However, I know I am going to hit a wall with mana regen eventually.

Would love sygils to come back, can truly see the benefit of them to reduce downtime and honestly i'm not willing to gamble any more on chests, rarely do I get anything overly useful from them.

I agree with Voldemort and Yilley. I truly think that at least one big purchase of platinum is pretty much necessary to be successful in this game. I wasn't getting anywhere being a lvl 75 free player. Money was way too hard to accumulate. Lvling wasn't hard yet, but I still had to recuperate and meditate after every few mobs. After I spent some money on platinum, I could suddenly get through the game much, much easier.

Lux is pretty much a necessity. The name of the luxury shop(s) should be changed to requisite shop. If I were a noob and I decided to talk to Quigley, I would be overwhelmed by how much gold you needed to see the shop (20k), let alone buy some of the items in it. If you're not a person who can spend hours playing every day or a person who doesn't buy platinum, then you'll have a pretty hard time in this game.
