If anyone has a reasonable explanation for this situation, please share it.
I was killing Atrisal with a level 157 Warrior. He has about 1200 Vitality and Taunt at level 40.
He had cast Taunt on Atrisal 3 times without Taunt being evaded. He was also hitting Atrisal with his spear for 150-300 damage per swing.
I had cast a level 34 Shield of Bark on the Warrior one time before the fight started. I had also cast a level 34 Natures Embrace on the Warrior one time during the fight. During the fight I auto attacked with my broom, for about 40 damage each hit. Natures Embrace had already expired and Atrisal was half dead. I did not target Atrisal with any skills. Nobody cast Calm on my Warrior friend.
Atrisal then began to target me with auto attacks and with Finishing Blow. The Warrior taunted again and Atrisal turned back to him. I continued to only auto attack. The Warrior was casting a few damage skills and buffs on himself like Shield Wall and Defensive Stance, while also auto attacking. Atrisal turned to attack me again after about 45 seconds.
Why would I pull aggro from a tank with such a high level Taunt and such high Vitality? In addition, a level 125 Rogue was attacking Atrisal while we were and hope did more damage than both the Warrior and myself combined. Noone should have pulled aggro from the Warrior in this circumstance. If someone was to pull aggro, it should have been the Rogue, not me.
I just don't understand why the aggro system in this game is so jacked up right now.
Re: Aggro Issues
#2A big +1 to this topic. I was trying to help a mage struggling at the arena with my warrior with full tank build. I was using taunt and warcry, despite several successful attempts, I couldn't pull agro and the mage died. Very tough to pull and maintain agro.

Re: Aggro Issues
#3If I might venture a guess, other class skills generate a lot more aggro now than it used to, and it was intentionally done so that fights do not get monotonous - "mob attacks tank, heal the tank"I just don't understand why the aggro system in this game is so jacked up right now.
I also believe that Aggro is no longer cumulative from the start of the fight. It is now more of who has generated the most aggro in the last minute (maybe less), that the mob attacks. Again, most likely to prevent the tank from taking aggro forever after a couple of taunts, and keep everyone on their toes.
Re: Aggro Issues
#4I was killing Disc. Ducarius with a rogue buddy who is lvl 92 with my druid who is 76. He initiated the fight, I cast Bark/HoT on the rogue, then I started in with Vines (11/20) and Swarm (7/20) and some Lightnings here n' there (5/20). By the time Ducarius was halfway dead I had stolen agro from the rogue... not that it was important since I didn't take much damage, but I can see how not being able to keep agro on bigger bosses can suck.
Last night I was helping with Spirehoof or whatever it's called, casted Embrace on the warrior right as they were going in for the first hit, apparently they missed and next thing I know I'm getting stomped on and wind up dead
Agro has definitely changed a lot. While killing a Shieldmaster with my lvl 80+ rogue, I lost agro to a level 50 something warrior for a second or two lol

Re: Aggro Issues
#5I know it kinda sucks, but OTM wants the mobs to be smarter.
If I was a monster and I can't seem to kill a tank I'm beating on because he is getting healed, then surely I'll look for the healer and kill him or her first.

Re: Aggro Issues
#6Hmm, that makes sense to a point but - even after the patch - taunt is almost worthless. Most of the time the mob moves off taunt to whoever has done higher dmg, or sometimes to attack the healer. I understand your view about it not just being a tank vs battle but what now is the point of having a warrior? Mages, rogues and rangers will mostly out dps it and if you are set up as a tank then all you are is a slow dealer of dps who doesn't get killed very often. I had hoped that the patch would fix taunt but it hasn't.

Re: Aggro Issues
#7I did the daily quest again with the mage to test it today. Every fireball I had to taunt, warcry, and taunt again to pull agro from the mage. The next fireball it would be back on the mage. Why do we even have tanks anymore?

#8I see what your point is, mobs got smarter, yes.I know it kinda sucks, but OTM wants the mobs to be smarter.
If I was a monster and I can't seem to kill a tank I'm beating on because he is getting healed, then surely I'll look for the healer and kill him or her first.
With that being said the player who is the tank would feel useless and soon, tanks become useless. Rogues would have a better job at tanking then a warrior. I've tanked more with my rogue who has 1.3k hp, and my warrior is just useless now.
If every class can pull aggro off a tank then there is no need for a tank.
Making mobs smart ruined tanks. That is my opinion.

Re: Aggro Issues
#10You have given me a good idea. Can OTM allow me to replace the names of my chars? I would like to make my Rogue into a tank, throwing one sneaky and hold the whole match, and make my tank a dps warrior. Having a DPS warrior named tanked doesn't make much sense...
