After 3 months of gathering dragonlord gear, we decided to fight Mordris on Aug 17, 2013 when she has not yet been itemized. We wanted to see how hard the encounter was going to be and figure out what we need in terms of clan personnel and gear. To our surprise, we got her to less than 25% without knowing what to expect. Before the patch, Mordris starts to cast Inferno at 50%, every 30 seconds. We were unprepared for this and we kept dying to it. But at this time, the High Priestess and the Deepfire Sentinels did not have Chaos attacks, so full dragonlord armor weren't even necessary. Mordris also cast Venomfire only on the main tank which wasn't quite right considering the DL set bonus should mean more to everyone, not just the tank.

We knew we could probably take her down if we had attempted a second time with what we have learned about Inferno, but decided to wait another week so we can get more dl weapons and level up a bit more.
To our dismay, our second attempt on Aug 23, after a secret patch by OTM, she was made invincible and her health was multiplied tenfold. So we only got her to a whopping 90% after 20 minutes. (dammit OTM lol)

After the Mordris encounter patch was released on Sept 5, we found out that the encounter became more difficult and the High Priestess and the Deepfire Sentinels now do Chaos Area damage and anyone without full DL was getting destroyed by Fingal's Bane (formerly known as Venomfire). We got her to around 55% our first attempt post-patch on Sept 13 and realized we needed more dps as well as full dragonlord armor for everyone.
Sept 27, 2013
So we worked on getting more levels and weapons for two more weeks and we attempted again on Sept 27, this time getting her to about 27%. Our current strategy wasn't working too well so we went back to the drawing board and worked towards killing her within 20 minutes.

Armed with a new strategy, we came back a week later and we got very close. She was under 10% when she enraged and as much as I hated doing it, we tried to finish her off for 5 more minutes but it was too costly so we aborted at 2%. It was frustrating getting so close, and nothing to show for it.

It was time for her to die.
With some of our members cancelling dinner plans and skipping classes, almost everyone showed up. Our clan was near full strength and although we had a bad start, we rallied once more and this time the ending would be different.
Things were going well until a Deepfire Sentinel respawned next to me and well, our group got caught in his rampage and I died... (yuk!), so Mordris got loose for several seconds. I think we lost some dps due to this and I was hoping we were going to kill her before she enraged, but unfortunately she did enrage with 1% left. There was no going back now and we just had to finish her off, and thankfully this time, she went down.
