How to ask high levels for help

#1
Need help with a boss or a quest? Want to know how to improve your chances of getting help from a high level?

Well, look no further. Here is how to properly request help.

1) You MUST know the name of the thing you want me to kill for you.
PMs like "pls help". "Come boss". "Big boss hurry" "i need boss for quest" "come carrow" are not helpful and waste my time and yours.
Depending on how you define "boss" there are probably 100 in the game. My psychic abilities are at zero.
If I have to ask you ten times to name the thing you want me to kill, I ain't gonna bother to come.

2) PM first, don't send a group request. I may well be in a grp already, so now I have to reject your request and then if Im in a good mood, I have to find you and PM you to find out what you wanted. Group me after I have agreed to help.

3) Get to the point. "Can you help me kill Falgren?" Is far more efficient than this conversation:
Noob "can you help me?"
Me "help with?"
noob "can you help me if you have time?"
Me "help with what?"
Noob "kill boss for quest"
me "which boss?"
Noob "for bp?"
Me "which bp? Which quest?"
Noob "breastplate"
noob "can you help me?"
me "warden, meteor, frozen, dusk shadow, spiritshadow, onyx, obsidian, beastbone?!?! There are lots of bps"
Noob "breastplate"
This is the point where I not only give up on helping you but I may block you just so i don't have to deal with this nonsense in the future.

4) Be clear ahead of time about whether you are wanting the drop or whether you just want to get in on a kill for quest and will give the drop. And please know that if you agree to give up the drop and don't, you will forever go on my "do not help" list and I WILL spread the word.

5) a simple thank you after is very much appreciated. Realize that sometimes we spend idols and pots (in addition to time) to kill a boss I likely don't need.

6) Please don't ask me not to tell my clan. Family first. if you call me for snorri, you can bet I'm telling my clan. Now for stonefang wretch, no worries, my clan doesnt want to bother. But you put me in an awkward position by asking me that.

I really do like to help out when I have time, but I have conversations like this daily and it drives me batty and makes me less inclined to help out.

If they don't throw on a "please" with their request I ignore it 99 percent of the time. After having helped many who do not say please and also do not say thank you after the help, I changed my policy with helping noobs.

Yes I know we were all there, but if you can't at least be polite you can go suck wind, because I don't care.

Also tired of the "Can you give me something for free" requests. My new response to that question is simply..."Yes, yes I can. First bend over, then I will put my foot up your ass...for free of course."
