Gold Lotteries secretly a scam?

#1
A gold lottery is when a number of players pay a fee (10k) to enter a chance to win a large ammount of gold, or more than they invested into it.

Lets say I have an account a secretly level another account
first account: jake
second account: lucy

I host a "Lottery" that can hold up to 10people. They pay 5000gold each person in chance to win 50,000 gold. J= Ammount of people, Q= Pay fee, with Y= Won ammount of gold. (J x Q = Y)
Which the winner will be pronounced after all 10 slots are full.
Host: Jake, main account.
So the people that "enter" are:
1.Hunter
2.Payton
3.Johnny
4.seth
5.LUCY (My secret alt)
6.Killer865
7.Gabby
8.Faith
9.Gracen
10.Blake

so that all slots are full I announce the winner correct?
WINNER:LUCY (secret alt)
Yet no one knows my alt is lucy and I make 45k profit.
So could these lotteries secretly be scams?
Thank you

This is entirely possible. A majority of the lotteries and dicing games that people host are in fact scams. Some are real though, but enter at your own risk. OTM is not accountable for any money that you gain or lose gambling. On a side note - that darn lucy...always stealing my money.

The winner was selected how? If you just decided that you or anyone else wins then that is not a lottery.

Most lotteries people buy a number(s) then gather together at a spot at a certain time and the host rolls a dice, person who obviously chose the right number wins. If anyone plays the game you stated above they'd have to be quite dumb.

Ive ran a few successful lotteries, and I think you need to know that the person hosting it is trustworthy. The first one I did was before CH had the dice emote, and to ensure that it was random we used the bonus ball number of the UK lottery. After the dice emote was added, I would have someone else roll a number to ensure fairness. The other thing that I have done when I hosted a lotto is to take no service fees. The winner gets the entire pot. Even though it is a lot of work to organize, just running the lotto should be a reward in itself. The host should not get rich off of doing it.

This is just my two cents based off of what I have done before. It is possible to get scammed if you do this, and that is why you should only use a reputable host if you do this at all. What people forget is that scamming gets you a quick payout, but building your reputation is far more valuable than gold. You can get gold anytime, but once your reputation is gone there is no getting it back.

I currently host one now, If your gonna use one of your alts then you shouldn't play it.

This is actually for fun and that people can earn some money.

There should be a petition about a Legit Lottery ingame.
EDIT: Didnt make a petition but I suggested it in the feedback and suggestions part of the forum. Check it out!

Its pretty much a scam the second you give them money. A solution to this is to not take part in it & warn others.
Support cannot help if they scam you, as you payed them with a confirmation screen and all.
