Egbert the Florist

So there I was, training my Blunt ability on Snowstorm Golems in the field behind Highshore. I walked over to the next golem, and in front of him stood a yellow-named mob named "Egbert the Florist". He only wore a Glimmerwing Leafkit, nothing else. I thought, "What the Heck?" So I killed him, and he dropped a mugwort and four clovers. Clovers. What are clovers? Not used for a quest, can't pick from the ground, and they sell to shop for nothing as well. If anybody knows what these are used for, it would be great if you could tell me :)
Just thought I'd share with everyone the story of Egbert. It is unfortunate I forgot to take a picture of him /: Also, if anyone has ever killed him before, what did he drop for you?

Thanks much for reading,
Blazedawg

Wow.

i was in fact intrigued to read this, as there is to my knowledge no such thing as ol' Egbert, but as i assume you probably arent bothered to lie, i makes it a real big mystery. never have i heard of him, and i have played this game a veeeery long time, since before things like christmas patches, halloween, even existed and there was just lirs reach, the catacombs, farcrag and crookback, with virtually half the quests and half the armor. wierd. i think you should confront admin and the game producers, see what they think. maybe it was a guy you had to kill for a quest or something, but they never got round to adding the quest.

My findings:

1.) He was in beta. I killed him. He did not re-spawn. This proves to me a possibility for two things.
1a) he is a rare spawn. He won't instantaneously spawn. Because he's a rare spawn the items he drops are significant.
2a) he was probably recently added, since he was incorporated into beta. I have never seen him in Lirs Reach, and reading this, I now know he exists outside of beta.

2.) The items he drops can be examined to reveal some VERY helpful discriptions in terms of finding out who he is. Although I can't log in to beta ATM to read the descriptions, I remember them saying something along the lines of "This plant looks like it could be used to make a potion." "This plant looks like it might be needed for..." and things of that nature. This undoubtedly implies crafting.

Conclusion: The reason this NPC was more then likely added seems to be for crafting. However, I'm baffled as to why they would put it in the real game so soon, because crafting is far down the road. Perhaps its to stock up early - I have no idea. However, this NPC seems to be quite significant judging from the items it drops. I would love to hear admin's feedback on this NPC, but since it was added so secretively, I'm doubtful that there will be much light shown on this mystery.

Wow I have been playing this since June too and never seen him. Should have taken a screen shot.

Thanks all for your comments. I don't really know if it indicates crafting, since the clovers just said something like "This beautiful flower has very nice colorful leaves" (something to that extent, will check later). And I'm not that surprised nobody's seen him very much, because it isn't the most popular spot to be. :P Yes, I really shouldve taken a screenshot, I wasn't thinking very well. Also, Death, what did he drop when you killed him in Beta? Just curious.

Thanks much,
Blazedawg

On crom I have seen this person (not really a boss) at least once.
When I killed he though he just gave me 2 nettles.
I think maybe he is a really rare "boss".

Yes, I killed this NPC in the same area... he was in the gully close to the cook who asks for Thyme.

It was about a month ago on Herne. I had just started playing the game, and was probably about level 8. I killed the florist with one lightning bolt.

I can confirm he dropped mugwort (because at the time I had yet to pick mugwort from the field, and I though "Oh, this is how I get mugwort) but I can't remember what else... There were several plants in total, so it may well have been 4 clovers as well as the mugwort. If I got clover, I either dropped it or sold it, as it isn't in my pack now. I look for him every time I am passing through there, but have yet to see him again.

Considering the amount of people asking support to reinstate the armor they accidentally dropped or sold, maybe I should email support to reinstate my clover? ;)

...

In a similar incident, I was practicing my totem skill by slaughtering Bandits a few days ago, and as I went round and round the field killing, there was a level 11 yellow mob that had popped up. I killed him and got about 350 gold!! I haven't seen him since. Anyone know about this NPC?

Yes, those mobs are very rare spawning mobs that drop gold usually. I know there are Skullcrusher Hoarder, Bloodgrove Taxman, Crookback Goldtooth, Goldbones, Goldtusk, Goldleaf wisp, Connacht Smelters and the one you mentioned in the lootguard's area. Some of these don't drop gold, like the Skullcrusher Hoarder drops Iron Goblets and Copper Goblets etc. If you ever see one, kill it :p

Thanks Blazedaw. That was a helpful list to keep my eye out for.

Well, a fair amount of people must have read my post, because I cut through the Bandit camp on my way from DC to Shale last night and counted 7 people AFK camping the Bandits. lol. I've never seen that many people there.

Funniest thing is... since the yellow mobs don't attack, one of the AFK chaps was actually staring face to face with the Bandit Bank Robber in question. I stood about for a bit to make sure he/she was, in fact, AKF and then killed the Bandit for 444 gold
