(is it player ethics?) Define 'noobs'.

:D On my world there seems to be loads of people that refer to low lvl players as ‘noobs’. Ok so maybe it's slightly understandable, but what I don’t get is what it actually means, and whether it makes sense (meaning do noobs really mean ‘low lvl players’) or does it mean people with terrible gear instead?

Does anyone know?

When I say noob, it basically means someone who does not understand the basics of the game, that said, if someone is wearing tarnished greaves they most likely are new with no understanding about how the game works therefor, they would be called a noob.

From my experiences a noob has been used to label any new player regardless of their knowledge/status. It's a small period of time where one may or may not make hilarious mistakes such as attacking that damn level 2 Midwinter Queen over and over wondering why it won't friggin die :o Just one example :D

In my opinion, noobs can be of any lvl that will either beg for items, or even tell you how hard it is to lvl.

To me, a noob is a person who~
1. Begs for gold
2. Swears when we say no
3. wearing wrong weapon for their class
4. trash talkers under level 50
5. anyone levels 1-35

"Noob" certainly seems to mean different things to different people.

For me, I think there are different kinds of Noobs. Someone may be one of, a combination of, or all of the following:

1. MMORPG Noob - This sort of Noob is new to the game style. They lack the etiquette that is generally considered common knowledge to more experienced players. They often also lack the heads-up play that is necessary in grouping, as they may only be focusing on their own health bar. I would like to believe that these people are the ones who beg for money, send group and friend requests when there is no prior interaction, and try to trade garbage.

2. Game Noob - This is someone who has experience with MMORPG, but is new to the particular game, Celtic Heroes in this case. They could be good heads-up groupers, but still don't know all the buttons, are still learning the maps, and are uncertain of the in-game economy.

3. Area Noob - Even experienced players encounter this when entering a new area of play. The person doesn't yet know the map, or where to go for certain things, as they have just recently become the level where they can fight in that zone. Once update 3 comes out, even the highest level player in the game will be an area Noob in new areas. But this is the excitement.

4. Class Noob - A person may have experience in all of the above, but if they have created a character of a new class, they will be a Noob, in my books. A new class will create a learning curve that can be overcome over time, but until the new class is learned, there will be foolish mistakes.

I don't consider level or gear to be an indication of Noobishness, per say, but it is certainly a symptom. A person who has a high level character or characters may just be trying out a new class.

This site actually has some nice directions on why noobs are called noobs. And noobs calling other people noobs. What kinda makes them noobs.
