Holiday Event Items

Halloween, Christmas, possibly Easter...
There will be plenty of holiday event items circulating in the economy. Everyone who knows anything about the market today knows that the older, less abundant items will have a higher value. Many people are probably familiar with games (I will not mention any in particular) that "stimulate" an economy. I've taken notice to many people's interest in doing this with the current economy, and it may not be such a bad idea. While it is a bit early to start projecting things like this without an auction house, it is never too early to discuss such matters.
Would it be a better idea to allow for permanately tradable items? This would allow for a wide variety of tradable holiday items, but there wouldn't be extremely high valued items that can be essential to a player-driven market. For example, if I am a long-term player, I want to set long term goals, such as achieving that "ultra-rare-you-name-it-super-expensive-item." Every game has these items, and they're often the very core of determination, as they are the thick line that separates the wealthy from the normal.
Perhaps it might be a good idea to consider "bound" items. Once you equip an item, this item is permanately bound to YOUR character. It is not tradable to any other character, and its exclusive to your own personal use. Players could still show off this item, but it is no longer tradable. In my opinion, this would produce a pyramid effect, rewarding long-term players who have gone through events without bound items, while producing fewer and fewer tradable holiday event items. This would also set the price for non-bound holiday event items (Christmas/Halloween, and possibly Easter) to jump to a very high price as they're the only items that could be equipped and unequipped while still being tradable.
The last option would be to allow for a permanent discontinuation of the ability to trade holiday event items. This would undoubtedly skyrocket the prices of current tradable items, assuming they remain tradable, and allow for future holiday items to only be a fun little memory to show off to everyone. However, this would stimulate the economy and provide the long term goals that people love to "die-trying" to achieve.
In my opinion, every game needs some type of long-term goal. Right now, Celtic-Heroes has holiday event items with no restrictions. I believe that the game needs to put some type of restriction to stimulate the economy and allow for there to be some "die-trying" goal to achieve, whether it be money, holiday event items, or some other unique achievement. As the game grows, and time goes on, the more recent event items will be worth less and less money, while the older items will steadily increase in value. Would it be a wise idea to jump-start the economy by placing some type of restriction on future holiday event items?
