What am I doing wrong?

#1
Son told me about the game last week so I decided to give it a shot. Have been playing MMO's since 1997 (Yes I'm an old fart)

I started off with a druid, seemed fun.... I learned soloing was painfully slow so I decided to reroll a mage. Leveling went much better but now sitting in catacombs at lvl 26 I'm bored of solo grinding so I decided to check out the forums in hopes of learning more only to read things like I made 51 in my first day or this is how fast rogues level or whatever so now I'm asking myself after 20+ hours of playing holy hell I must suck bad to be lvl 26. Is it because I don't buy sigils in the shop? Is it because I solo only? Not in a clan?

I don't mind spending money on a game I'm enjoying but if I have to spend money to then enjoy it forget it. I'll buy mounts, char. cosmetics, etc., hell I'll spend well more than I should (I get in trouble lots :))

I don't see many quests to do so I assume you just grind but for me grinding goes like this. Regen to full, pull 2-3 skeletons, sit for 3 minutes to regen and do it again. After 30-40 mins get a lvl.

If it matters I have 5,5,55,75 in stats and max cloak, bolt and 6/10 lure. I'm using meditate and recuperate in between battles, both at rank 1.

Do I gotta spend money?
Do I have to group?
Do I need to do something different all together?

I really don't know and am just looking for some guidance from some vets here. I read the tips for newbs but I don't need to understand the controls and such, I'm a newb to this game but far from it in the MMO sense.

Appreciate any input... cheers to all!

I'm afraid I can't help you much, because I am a ranger however what helps me is training in areas with enemies that are stronger than me, if I manage to kill one I get TONS of exp :) if you want to level up FAST and are willing to spend money, there are some potions (available thru item shop) that you can get for platinum. If you re still having trouble you might want to try another class:-)

I was thinking more and remembered what I did at that level, I went to shalemont and killed the 1 star connaccts, however I used bolas, since mages don't have bolas you should hve another player to heal you as you fight them (do NOT form a group, because that will give some exp YOU would have gained and give it to the other player) that's all I know, it is a VERY fast way to level:)

Hi there,

Just to be sure, do you have the first aid ability as that will improve the power of your meditate and recuperate.

Also are you using bandage wounds skill as that is a good way to heal up in between fights.

Mages also get a spell called energy boost which speeds up your energy regen in or out of combat.

Druids and rangers also get additional healing spells.

Hope that helps a bit with the time between fights.

Thanks!

Mages and Druids are notoriously hard to level. But, once you start to level farther it becomes very fun.
Many of the people who level up very far on there first days are on their second+ characters, so they can give them good equipment and stuff like fettle caps from other characters.

Trust me it gets fun!!

I agree the game does get much better as you go along. Although I think the basic storyline and quests could be pointed out a bit better.. Anyway, just keep doing what you have been doing and you'll get to the elite levels fairly quickly. It probably took me at least a week to get from Level 1 to Level 30... If you do spend real money and convert it into gold, the best purchase you could make would be a regen necklace from the Luxury Trader in Farcrag Castle. These necklaces automatically regenerate your health and/or energy, a great addition so you don't have to meditate as much. (ask some high levels on your server, they can tell you which one would be best) Again, these necklaces aren't that important, but they do really help get rid of the downtime meditation/recuperation sessions.

Hope this helps!
