Level Difference When You XP Grind

I'm curious as to what everyone else deems optimal for xp rate, specifically the range of level difference between you and the mobs you train on.
Do you value the ease and speed of killing mobs 0-1 levels below you while fighting some mobs above your level? Do you strictly kill mobs above your level? Is there a specific limit to the difference between you and the mobs you kill for xp? Let me know!
Personally, I have always killed mobs within a level difference of 0-2 above mine, inclusive.
Edit: I killed 1-3* mobs with a level difference of 0-5 for a while (as a level 211 soloing in Forbidden) and found that I got the same xp rate as killing mobs with a level difference of 0-2.

lets say my level is "n".
The mobs level I kill, "x", is usually (n+4)>x>/(n-1) where >/ is greater or equal to.
There is always anomalies though, if there is a levelling group of say, 3, we usually skip straight to 4*'s and they could be 5-10 levels above us depending on the floor.
When I solo I always kill mobs that are 1* - 3* and skip the 4*'s.
I always set myself a target - currently at my level I deem 1/2 bar decent for soloing - if I fail to get 1/2 a bar I know sometbing is up and I'm not doing something correctly. Then I'll mix it up until I hit that sweet spot again.
Hope this helps

I always found that typically anything your own level and up to 3 above was optimal for xp gain vs time to kill.
Of course there are times when you run out of mobs and need to go to some 4 above but any higher just slows you down....unless in a big group then go a bit higher.

I also aim for 0-4 above and as many 4* as possible.

When lixing I tend to go 0-5 and do 1-3 star mobs until I have to go for a 4 star. It's been working so far. I also lix in a 1-3 player group so that helps with the harder mobs.

I never lix alone, always with a mate. Haven't reached end game, but for firbolgs i run +1 to +7. Tried +10 but that only really works with 3 or 4 people.

I Lix alone and I tend to kill mobs that are 0-5 levels higher than me. There were times where I did 6 or 7 levels higher than me but I wouldn't recommend that unless if your build is pretty damn good. For 4*s I would usually do 0-3 for obvious reasons and I usually never avoid 4*s if they are in that 0-3 range because they are pretty easy to me (unless if they are mages, then ill try to avoid them until its nesseccary to kill them).

I've noticed that I always get low xp if I kill mobs right at my level and tend to get optimal xp when I kill mobs two or three levels above me usually being 2* or 3*
