DPS Druids: Anyone Have The Same Opinion?

#1
Well at this moment, I am a level 76 Druid, my whole Druid career I have been full support, nope, haven't used rebirth, my staff is at 46 and totem at around 226, give or take. The point is, the only things I fought with either weapons were adds! Which shows I'm a true full support druids, now I turned off auto attack. To me, basically, in my opinion, no offense to DPS Druids out there, but I don't think DPS Druids are good. Not one bit, well
I mean they can level with heals and buffs and such, leveling solo unlike I am, very dependent on a partner. Well put it into this perspective, if a druid's description says that it's good or even amazing at healing, why should you make a DPS Druid? Same concept as making a full support rogue! Imagine a rogue with a master's grimoire in the offhand and a void book in the mainhand, with pure focus and maxed bandage wounds. Think about it, as I've tried, I actually soloed druids and
I was quite happy! My first actual kill other than adds, and maybe playing around at lower levels. If you have any opinions against or with mine, understand that I don't intend to oppress DPS Druids, just an opinion. :)

I think DPS Druids rock. I float kinda hybrid, spec'd to the mob's I am fighting, which is now Grimwalls..so touch, vines, lightning, ward of fire, ward of giants and about a 400 breath for boss fights.

But a DPS Druid is a strong choice for any Druid, much easier to lvl and if spec'd with high bark and embrace and touch, still a solid group mate.

I think your opinion is short sided, and self absorbed. It takes at least 2 and sometimes 3 Druids with different spec'd buffs to make a group most effective, I love grouping with a dps Druid who can embrace and bark the tank and sometimes even Abund also while I ward and heal.

Druids work together, and so do different builds of Druids. Diversity isn't bad, it makes the game better and worth it.

One of the best things with Druids compared to other classes is the fact we can choose to play around several different builts. We are the only class with 22 odd spells. It is very interesting to choose which spells to invest and which built suits your game style. If you choose to go support, you have the whole focus intense built - lux items + new focus drops with several support spells for you to choose. If you choose to go dps, you have the spell intense built - regen lux items or the new melee built which uses the lux items that will enable 200 - 300 melee damage which is very awesome in my opnion. We may also be the only class that benefits from the lux trident most as the extra dex helps with less interruptions.

I have been pretty much dps druid my whole CH life. I loved it and I enjoy being able to out damage rangers, warriors and even rogues or mages at time with a lure of magic friend. Also most dps druids choose to go dps as it can be troublesome being dependant on other players for grp lving. We provide so much more fun to the game based on our different builts and spells to play with.

All in all, druid is a very interesting class, a lot of diversity and i enjoy making my druid shine despite of the class flaws.

I like to lightly saute my asparagus in grape-seed oil with salt and garlic. My grandmother likes to boil hers to a near pulp because she wears false teeth and garlic upsets her stomach.

Is either one of us wrong for for the way we respectively prepare our asparagus? Of course not. I do what I like, she does what's good for her.

The classes in this game, including Druid, are similar. Update 3 allows for all kinds of interesting builds. I like to play around, but generally prefer my Hybrid build. You sound like you wouldn't like that. And given your low melee stats (and I have to assume low evasive abilities) you would probably be frustrated trying to level up.

Personally, I find full support to be a bit of a frustration (especially if I am the only Druid in group), but to each his own. If you enjoy your build, and I enjoy mine, then OTM has done a remarkable job in pleasing the both of us. It's far more interesting that having a bunch of cookie cutter toons running around.

I'm really not to wise when it comes to druids. I have recently started a Druid alt lvl 70. With energy crown poison dagger hero ammy etc. He is a dps Druid built only for solo leveling to 100ish. I maxed lighting, strangling vines, storms touch, and am putting incoming skill points into natures touch. In this present condition I can out dps most all other classes my level. It's makes for fast leveling, combined with natures touch around 400 ish leveling is virtually non stop. This also allows me to solo mobs many levels higher than me because of heal. Totem ability is 350 or so. Storms touch maxed out at about 900 on dummies. As a side note with hero boots of speed this build is very good for pvp. I've beaten tanks 20 lvls higher than me by out running and then healing. Just thought I'd say somethin :o

I remember a wise man once telling me there is no such thing as a DPS druid... I think you were there Ice...

And absolutely druids CAN have kick ass DPS... however... if you want to go full DPS be prepared to mash the restos... you will run out of energy pretty fast unless you are a sigil master... I have 40 or 50 and I tended to run out of energy pretty damned fast while I was lix lvling... however my Noobliness meant that I didn't know that the rings didn't give u free skill points... they give you free skill points, and use energy to the level of the skill... so I had 30/25 storms touch... absolutely kick ass, but an energy nightmare.

BUT during my time I managed to KS a couple of my friends... both 5ish lvls higher than me... one a warrior the other a ranger. Those were two great days. Unfortunately nobody was there to witness it.
