Wards

#1
There was a guide from TeaW back in May regarding Wards - http://www.onethumbmobile.com/celticher ... =48&t=7944

Just curious to know if any fellow druids have invested heavily into any particular ward, whether it is indeed worthy and how much damage does the resist actually reduce?
For instance, I invested 10 points into Fire ward and lv 11 fire resist with 500 focus was about 145 odd. Tried it on lore dancer and lava land dmg. The difference seems to be only about 50 - 70 damage odd. So it seems that 2 fire resist reduces abt 1 dmg? Is this worth investing when you are lving in lava land?

Also, in terms of ward of magic, this obviously applies to druid's lighting and vine spells. But does it affect OW spells as well? Spells / Skills such as All Seeing's oppressive glare, Swamp Lord's deluge etc. I find it weird if it nots as it means we have nothing to counter apart from our abilities.

I find that crushing ward is really great for lowering DMG against the Golems and trees for yer party. It works like a group Bark. Ward of Giants I mean.

Ward rings are hard to get, but if you find a fabled, or grand ring of a good ward it's well worth it to use.

I agree with Tea that crush ward is great against the golem mobs. Against Grom it is invaluable.

The skills I've invested heavily in are Touch, Embrace, Breath, Bark, and Fire Ward. Fire Ward is great once you make it to the lava mobs, and against the Lava Lord. The Lava Lord does crushing damage too I believe, so if you have two high level druids in your clan it would be worth it to coordinate with them and have one invest in crush and the other in fire.

If you PVP, I would advise investing in Ward of Assassins to protect against piercing damage from rangers and rogues. We seem to have an abundance of rogues and rangers on Arawn, and not many mages so fire ward isnt as needed in our arena.

Re: Fire Wards (Updated)

Just a quick update, my ward fire is currently at lv 25 - abt 320 fire resist. Was a bit dissappointed at first due to the following

1) It did not nullify lava dmg as per TeaW notes (Tho in his defence, i supposed Admin may have made adjustments since May)
2) When fighting the lava golems, his cloak dmg went from 50 odd to 20 odd. (Bah only 30 dmg odd difference for 320 fire resist  )

I did more experinments with a mage frd and this were the results:

1) Fire bolt went from 150 odd to 80 odd
2) Cloak went from 50 odd to 20 odd
3) Incinerate went from 210 odd to 100 odd

Based on the above, interesting enough, it seems raising 320 fire resist have a 50% fire reduction (odd) in damage. This was again tested on Wyvern mobs. Split fire went 1100 dmg to 600 dmg odd. So it seems my theory may be correct. So yea, 24 skill points into Fire ward arent too bad for 50% fire reduction if yr a support mage. :D

The fire ward gives percentage protection on each point so 400 points means about 40% :-) currently have it at 28 with ring n ppl love me for lava training n lavalord :-)

Where do you get the ward spells (ward of fire, etc.)? Do they just drop from OW bosses?

What is fair price if someone is selling them?

Thanks

I find it a waste of stat points to invest in all wards, so I usually use the fire and crush. (the others are at lvl 1) Like tea stated earlier, rings make a huge difference and are worth keeping. After all look at Tea's sig, rings have now made him able to rez up to lvl150

I pulled back on my 150 rezing as I am maxing a few wards now, but thanks for the note.

But yeah Fire Ward not affecting Lava DMG has to be a bug, since any other Fire Resistance including rings, and including carpets affects it.

I would post this to be patched, Fire Ward is the only Update 3 spell I don't have, and it's painful.

@Casti yes, they drop from the faerieland bosses, the skill/ring droppers. Personally the price of skills has plummeted, I think you could get it for a few K.
