Re: Bark or Abundance?
#12At this moment, i am trying to coordinate with three druids in the clan, me as abundance, another as shield of bark and nature's embrace, and the last is for wards.

Re: Bark or Abundance?
#13I disagree. When I am sporting my DPS build I add nothing to bark but always add points to abundance.Support Druids need to go Abundance, DPS Druids need to go bark.
Bark gets interrupted way too much if you are solo attacking anything near my levels. Once your Bark wears out after the initial cast, it is next to impossible to cast again. I think abundance lasts longer & I'd rather have the added HPs to provide the extra buffer against strong attacks that take out many HPs. The benefit to Abundance is if I can get a heal in during battle, my HPs are at max again.
Maybe it comes down to style of play, but I see Bark as a one-time use spell during any given battle if you solo.
Bark lasts 2 min, Abundance Lasts 3 min.
Again it's about style and personal preference, everything is. You do what works for you. But buffs aren't meant to be recast in a solo fight. I don't even attempt it. Why waste dps swings on failing to cast a buff? I would rather fail at recasting a Touch a few more times.
I cast my buffs directly before, and other than Embrace (when it's in my build) and the occasional quick cast ward, I don't mess around with recasts on the usual. But we obviously play much differently, so do what works for you.

Re: Bark or Abundance?
#14I agree with a lot that has been said here regarding play style, role, build etc.
I think one other thing that is quite important is level.
If I recall correctly, Mariner, your Druid isn't all that high yet. For the lower levels (30s, 40s, 50s, 60s) I think Bark is better bang for your buck. It will help you more in defending yourself against Connacht archers and Warriors, it will help you against Boars and most Glimmerwings, it will be decent against Unicorns and the non-spell Druids.
Once you get higher and are dealing with the spells of Druids and Eyes, bark may be less useful. Once you start fighting Wraiths, some Abundance is a must.
The other thing to think about is your account itself. You have mentioned that you don't buy any plat, so I have to assume that you have few, if any, sigils. Using Abundance is a double energy drain (need to cast Abundance then Touch to buff yourself) whereas Bark is a onetime cast. If you are having energy issues, that is also something to consider. You don't want to be starting your fight with one third your energy gone.

#15Thanks Dersu!
Yes, you are absolutely correct! My Druid is only L28 lol! I'm still debating on which char to play on next, but I'm concentrating on my ranger for now. I've been "imagining" how to level my other chars (druid, war, mage, rogue), and this question here has been one that's been a doozy for me, as it seems like skilling them Both up did not make sense.
And yes, I (still) am not planning on buying plats anytime soon, so any regen on this guy will have to be gold buyable. That is an excellent point about the "need" for a 2ndary spell to go with Abundance but not Bark! How much energy/tick does 1 sigil give you, out of combat?

Re: Bark or Abundance?
#16Mariner - I though so. Yup, my recommendation at your level would be Bark for the reasons I stated. It is great against arrows and swords.
You can always buy a book with gold when you get higher and want to re-skill.
Sigils are remarkably easy to understand: 1 = 1. The number of sigils you buy will increase your energy/tick to the corresponding number.
Of course, if you are running a high Meditate, it might not be that important (cast Med, Abundance, Touch and wait a moment) I have a ton of sigils, so any drain from buffing is regenerated almost immediately.

Re: Bark or Abundance?
#17Ah, that was going to be a follow up Q lol; Meditate. But I'm guessing you mean that on Top of in-game available stuff too? like Heroic ammy (I have one now) and the like?Of course, if you are running a high Meditate, it might not be that important (cast Med, Abundance, Touch and wait a moment) I have a ton of sigils, so any drain from buffing is regenerated almost immediately.

Re: Bark or Abundance?
#18At level 28, if you are wearing a Heroic Ammy, you probably wont have energy issues. I guess I assumed that it wouldn't be on that toon. lol. If you are twinking, you probably won't have many problems.Ah, that was going to be a follow up Q lol; Meditate. I'm not really sure. I don't use Meditate other than to help increase my First Aid. I have a level 38 alt with no sigils and a massive amount of Focus. He never has energy issues, but that is due to Focus and a tick necklace (can't remember which). I guess you can disregard what I said earlier.

Re: Bark or Abundance?
#20It is amazing what you can do when you twink. My main is run of the mill, and is on a budget. I buy last year's items at a discount for him, and at his level... it is sufficient, but nothing spectacular.
The level 38 Druid alt is massively OP in my opinion. Part of that is due to knowing people who have lent me some very helpful armor and items or have given me high level skill books and Dryad leaves, part is because I know how and where to play, part is because I understand focus and skill points, and part is because I could bank roll him to buy little things like the Cerridwyn (sp) stones. I had Warding at level 20, and it makes a world of difference.
I am simply floored by him. I cast Vines, Lightning, Storm, get off one swing of the totem and the mob is dead.
And back to the original question, he is currently in Shale, and uses Bark. I only use Abundance when I fight the Defector place holders.
