Howling wind and calm are lvl 1 skills. I use wind in my skill bar for soloing now but it's not worth a single point.

Yeah howling winds seems useless..
I'm 58 now and soloing. I dont know what to max out though.. So far ALL my skills can go up to 17.
Im thinking about grasping roots, thorns, lightning, and Natures touch being maxed out. And everything else have none.
Would that work for proper soloing?
I ask all this specifically because i only have ONE book from the update, and dont wanna mess up something.

i dont solo, i team up with some warriors, rangers and rogues. my opinion is that druids shouldnt solo, well,
once yer level 60 and can access the otherworld, you can team up with a warrior that can kill eyes or
has a huge hulk icelord or winterking weapon. it worked for me ;)
