Posted: Tue Aug 14, 2012 3:07 am
Hi all,
I am Pikel from Rhiannon. I am currently a lvl 131 full support druid. I have full frozen armor and decided to post a comparison between frozen and diamond so that folks can see the differences between the two. This post will be very long, so bear with me...
Also, this forum will not let me put space between everything like i wanted to, so please forgive the over use of slashes to seperate things.
These are the stats of both armors:

Ok, so those are the stats for both sets of armor. The big question now is how do these stats affect my toon and my abilities as a full support druid. Now, i will post up my stats and how each set affects a few spells....
These are my current stats, keep in mind that this is without any type of jewelry.....

Shield of Bark 386
Stats with full Frozen Cosmic armor Including Totem:

Vitality 170....................................Armor 200

So you may be asking, "what do all these fancy number mean to me?". Well, as a full support druid, and most high level druids choose to go full support because it is impossible to solo at these levels, Diamond armor is clearly superior to Frozen armor due to the stat boosts. As a support druid you will not be in combat taking hits so the extra armor, resists, and evasions really do not do anything for you. Sure it may help with some boss aoe's and an occasional hit from an add, but if you have a good group, it really isn't worth donning.
Lets delve a little deeper into how the different armors affect your spells. Keep in mind that these numbers are only for this build. Diamond armor gives you an extra 41 pts to your Natures Touch spell versus Frozen. Diamond gives you an extra 20 points to your Natures Breath spell versus Frozen. Diamond gives you an extra 6 points per tic to your Natures Embrace spell versus Frozen. Diamond armor give you an extra 16 point to your Shield of Bark spell. These numbers seem small, and they are at this high focus level, those with less than 500 focus may see an even bigger increase in these numbers due to the diminishing returns provided by taking focus over around 370.
I believe the real benefit that Diamond Armor provides over Frozen Cosmic can also been seen when comparing health and energy. Wearing full Diamond armor you get an extra 86 points of health versus Frozen. While wearing Diamond you actually lose 417 points of energy. Now, you have to determine which is more important to you as a full support druid. I have 130 energy sigils and with full gear I regen 165 pts per tic of energy. I find that this is plenty for me and that I never run out of energy during a boss fight as long as I stay out of combat mode and avoid any DOT spells. In fact, my energy bar rarely goes below half except during very long boss fights. So for me, the diamond armor is still superior due to the extra bit of health over energy that it provides. This helps me to take a boss AOE spell and keep on healing. Keep in mind that your mileage may vary according to your build, gear, and sigils. If you do not have sigils or good regen gear, the extra energy provided by the Frozen armor may outweigh the small gains to your spells and health.
So, in conclusion, Diamond is just a litlle bit better for a focus build, full support druid. Devs, please take a look at the comparison of Diamond versus Frozen armor and release Dragon armor with stats bonuses instead of energy and health bonuses. Thanks to anyone who actually took the time to read through this massive post. If you have any questions or need any help in game, feel free to ask. Also, if there is any interest, I may be persuaded to post a comparison showing what the plus 200 nature magic provided by the diamond icon actually does for you....
