Pika - I'm going to deal with your post in reverse order, as it will make me look like less of a jerk
You are not doing "much less damage than you should."
This is assuming that I was a different class.
You are trying to compare cumquats to crab-apples. You can't say that a level 25 Druid does less damage than it should compared to a level 25 Warrior or Rogue, for instance. Again, you are doing the correct damage (assuming you have your stats, skills and abilities sorted) for your class/level.
I don't deny that you could do more. Of course you could. I have a low level Druid that lays down massive damage due to Storm and damage gear. That Druid is unnatural, however. He does more damage than he should.
And for mages, lets face it, even without lures they have a lot more dps. Theyve got ice shards, firebolt, incinerate, fire storm, and maybe cloak of fire should go into the category too.
Again, your comparison is skewed. You are listing the skills of a level 70 Mage and using it for comparison against your level 25 Druid. A level 25 Mage would not naturally have Incinerate nor Fire Storm. Those skills should not be used to base your comparison. Beyond that, a Mage is simply a better DPS dealer than a Druid. Druids make up for this in heals and buffs.
For, the first part, anyway, for the focus-should-not-affect-totem, I imagined like the lightning strike swirling around and stuff, dealing more damage.
Here you have an interesting idea, I just don't think you have flushed it out as much as you could. It sounds to me that what you really want is a weapon that has the possibility to proc a damage skill, whose power is based on Focus. This is an interesting idea. Maybe you could reword it and post in Feedback and Suggestions.
I don't know that a low level Druid could wield such a weapon (I mean the whole thing of these sorts of games is training and advancing yourself... This sort of weapon in a low level Druid's hands would be like giving nun-chucks to a kid on his first day of karate class). If this sort of weapon were introduced, there would most likely be a high level requirement. Interesting, however.
