Druid pros:
Absolutely vital to have in the group if doing anything worthwhile. It is virtually impossible to kill anything 'fun' without at least two druids. Youll never be bored. I get probably 2 whispers an hour to come heal for one boss fight or another.
Can be very useful at much lower levels than every other class.
Very rewarding if played right. Boss fights fail without good heals.
Cons:
almost impossible to be both a powerful healer, and be able to solo effectively past lvl 110-ish. For most, solo leveling past lvl 60-ish is rather unpleasant. Very group dependent. Must choose dps, or support role. Dps druids are not desirable compared to healing druids due to the general shortage of healers.

Mage:
Great dps,
neat utility spells like energy boost and cloak of fire.
Play style pretty different from other classes.

Mage cons:
I dont play a mage, but i hear they have energy issues that no other class suffers as badly from.

I wont comment on other cons, as ive never played one. Maybe others will chime in objectively.

if you don't plan on getting over lvl 100 they are both good choices. But leveling a mage past that requires extra deep pockets, bieng in the top clan, good leveling friends, and all of the above.

It is relatively easy for a druid to find a partner to level with whenever they want

Very true. Mages also need energy shield cuz they have weak armour and can't heal. Energy Shield cost closely to 900ish energy at 30/30. A huge amount of sigils and in-combat regen will be needed. Also mages are not very welcomed in boss fights.
