Is solo in a Druid's vocabulary?

#1
I'm looking for a class to level solo, without grouping. I realize Druid is primarily a support class, yet I was wondering if they can level well enough alone if given the right build. Many Druids have a hybrid or dps build, but I'm not looking for one of those unless it's the best way to level. If any experienced Druids out there can tell me if this is possible and how one might go about it I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Hehe thanks for the mention :)

For a nice solo build HW and Vines are a MUST, for reasonable price try get hero ammy and golden trident for the nice dex.

Rest is sorta an option and there is no exceptional solo druid build that is cheap unfortunately :?

Yes, pre patch was easier in some ways before mob attack was put on steroids.

Howling wind used to be amazing, it is still useable but you have to sacrifice some points into dex and also vit for skill hit survival.

Although when I hit 180 I am considering dropping it for a roots build. The issue with a roots build is you pretty much have to drop storm due to cast range and if another mob swarms you that it will be a challenge to heal up due to interrupts as you can only cast on one mob at at time. Howling wind is useful even if another spawn spots you as you can cast on two and through careful energy conservation kill both.

I really wish mob attack wasn't given such a boost as when you pump 35 points into a skill you expect it to ensure you do not get hit by melee. Maybe if hw gets given an appropriate boost I would not require 250 dex(even though I do not avoid being hit 100% of the time it is still workable but you sacrifice vit or focus).

The main issue with druid soloing is energy burnout. Even with 500 mana sigs I find after one or two mobs i need to let them kick in for a couple of ticks to ensure I have enough mana to cope with multiple(potential) evades.

I might change my mind on which build is superior when I test out a roots build more as without a ton of vit troll skills can still wipe you out when using howling wind(even when they do not touch you with melee). Particularly at the start of a fight with a troll when they cast furious sweep/crushing blow in quick succession. Actually on the subject the succession is just enough to fit in natures touch cast but not enough to register the heal. Although I have soloed gloom trolls with my build(I think I was 168 when I soloed my first without pots) it often was due to some form of luck like i evaded one of the skills or my hw was not evaded. Maybe if I played about and added an extra 1k hp to make it 4k overall it would be enough to handle them but with energy burn for druids being so high it doesn't seem appropriate to further reduce my focus.

Either way druid soloing can be a lot of fun.

For soloing, druids are not the best but yes Druids can solo. I soloed much by myself and leveled in groups with my rogue since my rogue could not solo effectively. Shield of Bark helps with the squishy Druid. Strangling Vines is best overall damage by far. I do 1500-2000 damage at level 23/30 vines over the spell duration. Lightning strike is another good spell I use for druid. I havent messed much with Stinging Swarm but heard it can be another good damage spell but it can also draw enemies attention you don't want. Storm Touch is good damage as well but uses alot of energy and has a long cooldown. Points in Natures Touch and/or Natures Embrace is a necessity for survival. If you don't have acces to gear to boost your dex and defense then I recommend maxing Howling Wind. I use trident for the dex and defense bonus and it does help. Heroic ammy will help with energy regen as will invigorate brac. That's the best advice I can give for soloing with Druids.

if you are willing to spend 200 dollars on energy sigils (if they already come back) then by all means choose druid, we can heal ourselves and do quite good dmg, but the energy is a ***. i suggest warrior if you want a solo class, they barely take dmg, with good setup dont need many pots to solo lvl either.

Solo is very doable. What i do is max my 4 dps spells and dump rest into embrace. The heal from embrace covers most if not all the damage from one stars two stars about quarter health left and three stars might have to use a pot or two. When i lvl my rogue i use haste pot solo with my sk lixer so ive adapted same philosophy with druid, except i switch haste with a energy regen elixer and im good to go. I tried the root build a couple times since update. I like it but if the mob evades ur tanking it without storm touch so i dropped roots again. I also have a lot of vit now anyways due to the amount of aoe and mobs the bosses calls now. Wild like to point out to solo on a druid efficiantly you will need some great gear, and energy sigals are a MUST due to the insane amount of energy our spells consume. I have noticed tho this update i can solo much more efficiantly on rogue which is silly to me. Rogue isnt anywhere nearly as geared as druid either....
