As far as im concerned many druids don't really use grasping roots, i think one of three things should happen, 1. At best it should be an area affect that deals dot throughout the duration it is inflicted on the multiple targets, pretty much bees with a gasping roots effect to it, not nearly as much damage as vines probably about 1/4-1/2 the damage, but roots by itself is isn't worth maxing when you can only cast on one person and it does no damage, this would make it worth using, 2. Turn it aoe without damage, 3. Keep it to a single target but add damage,
This would dramatically help druids solo, with a little kick of damage, since especially bark, embrace, natures touch get interrupted, it can help a druid to survive,
Just to be clear why: I've never maxed or really even used roots, yea i can put the 25 points to max it, but thats 25 points that doesn't go toward damage or healing, just holding someone in place, it dilutes the potency of a druid, I'm a lvl 98 hybrid druid, and roots is only really effective if you have it at par with your lvl, which i would have to waste about 18 skill points, this game does give you enough skill points for the 18 or so druid spells, i could only max four, making me have to choose wisely, and roots just ain't good enough, especially trying be a hybrid and do both good heals and damage

#2Roots is fine the way it is imo. Very helpful for a solo druid (or group of ranged/casters) to level or to kill a boss.

#3Root is my most favorite skill of all...
There are so many ways I use root that I find it hard to even read you post. Root allows me to keep bosses, mobs, adds, etc., from one shoting me with my none existent armor. Put up a Breath heal and you are almost aways guarantee adds to come you way. One quick cast and you can step away, heal, and hope someone picks that add up.
My most favorite time to use Root is in a ranger group ffa against rogues on Snorri. Cast root and watch all the rogues die...
Meanwhile, our ranged team is blasting away.
If you want to talk about a wasted spell you should be bashing SoL.

And not only is sol absolutely useless, they keep making high-end loot based around it. Sol hippo skulls... Touch/sol mordy rings... What a joke. Sheesh.
We got a roots skull from Hrungnir last week and its one of the coolest skulls we have gotten to date imo.

#5This shocked me at first... Every single druid that is 150+ uses roots on Taranis lol!As far as im concerned many druids don't really use grasping roots
And for my suggestions, I think roots is fine without doing dmg, however it could greatly benefit by having less of a cooldown to allow for continuous rooting, and your AOE roots idea is fabulous! +1 to that!

#6You can do continuous rooting if you time it absolutely perfectly, although of course there are always those pesky misses... LOL. That is what is so cool about the root skull tho - give you much more wiggle room for continuous rooting.it could greatly benefit by having less of a cooldown to allow for continuous rooting

Re: Gasping roots revision ideas
#9The closest you can get for continuous rooting is if you recast it from as far away as possible and hope the mob is slow enough to get rerooted before it reaches you (it will always be free for about .5 secs though)You can do continuous rooting if you time it absolutely perfectly, although of course there are always those pesky misses... LOL. That is what is so cool about the root skull tho - give you much more wiggle room for continuous rooting.it could greatly benefit by having less of a cooldown to allow for continuous rooting
And I completely agree with you! Those root skulls are amazing!!!
