So a lot of topics on here seem to say that you require a huge number of energy sigils in order to be effective in large boss battles. Are they really the necessary? If they are, I know that I can quit now without wasting my time.

Yes you can be successful without sigils, but its not easy. In iOS, sigils usually go for 1000 gold per sigil so to have 1000 sigils, you need a million gold. A restore pot is about 200g so you can opt to buy 5,000 potions instead and if even you go through 50 pots per boss, thats going to last about 100 bosses, thats probably around 3-4 months if your clan can take all of them. So if you can raise a million gold just for potions every 3 months, it is certainly possible.

Btw, im only talking about the end game bosses that require a raid group, not the single group 6* bosses like Stonelord or Pyrus or Snorri

But if i had a million gold, id just buy 1000 sigils from players who get them from chests.

It is possible to play all classes without buying platinum. It will take longer since you need to get gold to buy the plat items you need like sigils, pots and such.

Being someone who got to level 130 on a Druid before first buying plat, it is definitely possible! You just need lots of dedication, spare time, and good leveling partners. However, if you already have a high level character and buy plat, it will be MUCH harder and more frustrating as you are already used to the luxury plat brings. If I hadn't bought plat during the summer 2013 event, mainly because my Master (Morphmarfa if any of you oldies remember him) was leaving the game and told me to get to 155 in 2 weeks, I would probably be 30 levels lower than I am now!

Thanks for the replies. And how can sigils go for gold? On the android version you immediately use a sigil when buying it, so it never shows up as an item in your inventory. Is this different on iOS?

They mean buy sigils with gold as in sigil crates which are obtained as a prize from event chests.

Just clarifying this even more: One of the possible rewards from the Event Mystery Chests is an Energy Sigil Crate (containing 5 energy sigils). Those crates are tradeable.
