First thread so we'll see how it goes...
Okay, so I started with a mage thinking that it would be the best class because of it's high skill damages, but at level 61 i am starting to regret it. Mages kind of suck for a couple reasons.
1. Their auto-attack sucks beyond all belief. even the best weapons don't do what a level 30 warrior weapon can do.
2. We us energy LIKE NO OTHER!! if you're a mage then you are most likely sick and tired of waiting for energy to regenerate. We have to wait after every other mob and because of this we need energy regeneration skills to be high, therefore lowering our possible level 100 mage to a level 60 mage. Even with the most energy regeneration items possible you still only gain around 50 per tick which isn't enough to keep up with all the spells and energy shield because energy shield uses a fricken buttload of energy
3. There aren't very many mages around (at least on Mabon) so i have to buy everything for store price.
Some Suggestion I Have Are
1. Make it so mages regenerate energy faster than other classes or at least boost the skills that regenerate energy.
2. Make auto-attack better. Now i know that you say it's fair because we have good skills but i have seen rangers that, with the right setup, can hit higher than ice shards on auto-attack!
3 Add a special character for mages, if you take ancient, quartz, diamond etc. armour to them they will embed with special regeneration magic for, say 10k for 5 per tick and 10k more for each upgrade up to 15.
For heaven's sake I killed the dragon at crossroads with some friends so i decided to see my highest hit with ice shards and fire bolt on wolves and after like 10-20 wolves i was at half energy! You should really make rebirth books available for gold...
Re: Mage Issues
#2Alright.
So I had a warrior, level 88 before I started to work on my Mage. At first it was hazy, (update2), but as I leveled I became better. I loved being able to hit high. And then update 3 hits. I returned to my warrior for a week but came back to my Mage. Now my mage is level 87 but I've decided to stop.
Main reasons being
-my damage output isn't nearly high enough
-my regen isn't nearly good enough
Now in terms of regen, I'm alright, I'm willing to buy sigils but as of now I don't have the money to do so, I'm saving for double platinum probably.
My damage output
my daze. So many classes just out dps me. And then the energy costs of those spells just drain me.
I'm tired of, without my sigils, having to stop after 4 or 5 solo fights and wait for 3-5 minutes to regen my mp.
It's the little things that build up.
Also, I saw in another post something about us not being that relied upon, and that's true. Nobody actually needs a Mage as support, (we are meant to be dps), but we seem to be designed for a support class. So an energy healer. But healing energy is handy. Handy is all, a Druid and their ability to heal health at massive amounts is awesome. Sacrifice takes my health, which I'm fine with, personally, I don't like the ratio.
So I went back to my warrior. I don't have many energy problems with him, and he's running a heroic rejuv only. And I can bandage is health...
Now I'm sorry for this rant, I normally don't complain. But i want to have a reason to switch back to my Mage, because it is fun to play, but as of now, my warrior is worth more

Re: Mage Issues
#3There are already quite a few threads about that now. Hopefully admin will listen to us and up our energy regen and damage, before this game will only be viable to play with 4 classes.
Re: Mage Issues
#4I kind of wish I made a rogue and not a Mage now .
A level 127 rogue is worth a lot more than a level 127 Mage these days.
And unless I have infinite energy, I would just come across the energy regen problem. There is a class balance issue but like it or not there is no true solution yet.

Re: Mage Issues
#5just a note; max energy regen is acquired through
offhand orb 25/tic
ammy 20/tic
ring 5/tic
bracelet 10/tic
helm 15/tic
thats 75 energy per tic max with all the best lux
there does need to be an offhand which offers 50/tic with no added stats, i believe this would help
the in combat energy regen skill is nothing to shy away from either as just a few points does make a difference

Re: Mage Issues
#6Thanks for all of your responses.
I think that maybe a mage would be good if i had the 75 per tick but my problem is that I am broke and don't know any ways to make money besides platinum, which I really don't have the money for. I am a level 61 mage and I really need a rebirth because I didn't use most of my points for energy which I need. Any tips on making money would be very highly appreciated.
Thanks!

Re: Mage Issues
#7best way to make money, kill mobs that drop gold, you find easy to kill, and give some xp
on the way pick up all the sunstones you can and sell them to higher levels
as a mage you can charge people for cloaking/luring service
imo caster classes have the highest potential for making money as they can charge people for services

Re: Mage Issues
#9Yes we all agree that the mage is porked. Hopefully they fix it without unbalancing the game too much.
We desperately need a main hand weapon, so if they don't fix the spells we have something decent to attack with.
Wands do jack s@#t right now and I only use it for the secondary benefits that help your stats.
Rogue vs Mage.
Rogue can kill with impunity, Mage has to wait.
