Re: Types of Mage, Mage builds?
#2Well there are three distinct ones i know of.
1) Melee Mage
http://www.onethumbmobile.com/celticher ... Elite+mage
2) Support mage
3) "DPS"/Focus Mage
Also you can mix and match the builds to suit your own needs.

Re: Types of Mage, Mage builds?
#3Personally I use a melee/support approach. It allows me to solo effectively, and after casting what few support spells I have on group players I can help on offense. With my energy shield up I can pull aggro on occasion so the rogue in the group can cast light heal on themselves without interruption.
I think this is the best build for me at this point, and if I can ever get lure of assassins it will be that much more effective a build.

Re: Types of Mage, Mage builds?
#4Im personally fond of the support Mage build, I find it extremely usefull in boss fights. Not to mention I have a 125 Mage that's been levelin with 140 people since level 110, the exp is a huge +.
Another good use for support mages is that it has the potential to power level higher levels. For example I'm able to help a level 145 ranger get a bar and a half+ per lix. (sounds bad but wait till ur that high).
Some issues with support:
Can't solo all too well:(
Lures have been changed to better dps builds in speed:/
Can only be great at 3.5 lures(max) or you can balance out to all.
Don't always have leveling groups
Some pros with support:
Most high levels love you
You get in a great deal of boss fights
Energy isn't much of an issue
For those curious this is Dent, lvl 125 Mage from awarn.

#5So if I was to build my Mage as this type what skills and stats do I upgrade?
Re: Types of Mage, Mage builds?
#6Redaki.
Agreed on your support cons.
If you cant solo your missing out on the 2 current daily quests.
They give combined 70k xp.
Crammock and the mini trees 6.
Lvl126.
Attack mage
Max ice shards max firebolt
Max lure of ice, 15/30 lure of fire.
I can get crammock to half just using spells, out of energy. Then its slow going with wand and recharge firebolts.
Luckily crammock doesn't hit hard.
