Re: Mage build advice

#2
idk about the best way to play one but the fire mage is the second highest dps ( h2h is #1 ) h2h mages require a lot of gold to maintain so go all fire.
- Fire bolt- maxed
- Lure of fire- half maxed
- Energy shield- half maxed
- Energy boost- rest of points

--- if the energy shield is taking up to much energy or is not even breaking after 2 mobs lower points in it.

-Stats
strength-5 don't put any points into it.
Dexterity every now and then you can put 2 or 1 points into it but shouldn't have any more than 60 total
Focus- this is what 85% of your points will go into
vitality- enough points to survive after your e shield breaks and you can recast it.

Fairly good reply but mages really underestimate vitallity you could even go like 60% focus 5% vit and 35% vit because you never know when you get tour sheild interupted so much that you keep trying to cadt and die because you have no hp

u are both right, it is just a choice every player need to maken by themself.

more focus means more dps, but when your shield is down u die quick. and if u dont have dex, ur shield can be interrupted quite sometimes.
if u have more vat, u do less dps, u can survive longer without a shield and grouping with a druid is now better. because if u dont have alot of vatility grouping with a druid makes no sense because u dont have any hp to regen.

I have always used a high vit instead of maxing my focus. I did less damage but I could do just about anything. Tank lower level mobs. Lure for groups. dps for solo leveling.

Really what keeps mages interesting is there is a large variety of options. I think you need to just play around with spells as you get them but start with fire at the lower levels.
