Honesty it doesn't matter- your stat combination should determine that; there are bosses that are weak against fire and some weak against ice, what I'm doing is going full dps fire, why? Well fire ability skills faster than ice (all ice moves cool downs take too long) all the DOT fire moves offer will be great too (cloak and incinerate and firestorm (I think that's DOT)- a fire blade would be my best friend :)

Firestorm AoE ( area of effect spell ) and ice abilitys have same cooldown as fire ones. ( looking at ice based lures lol ).
I must say ice build has more dps ( or its just me but ice mage has 2 nuke spells )

I experimented a bit and it seems that ice blast has a longer cooldown than firestorm. I still like using ice blast and shards. Its great with ice attune maxed, but I had to take some points out of ice attune to max energy boost. And I definately need it.

lol it depends on what you want

fire has a slightly shorter cooldown
ice has a slightly longer cooldown

ice is more like a nuke-ish sort of spell (hitting a lot of damage, then wait for cooldown, then hit high damage again... etc)
fire is more gradual (fireball every couple secs, firestorm, incinerate, lure of fire, with cloak of fire doing gradual damage as well)

i think that fire would be more useful in boss fights but ice would be more convenient for leveling (you dont want to do gradual damage while leveling lol)
you would want nuke damage while leveling so you can move quickly

but in the end its all your choice :)

If u evad with ice , its more important than if u evad with fire

Fire is pretty significantly better at the moment sadly. The issue with ice isn't the damage as the damage output is fantastic, the issue is with deflections and how much that kills DPS. Also, if you just cast and get jumped by spawns you're pretty much done for.

In the end I've found fire to be about 20-30% quicker for leveling and superior on boss fights because the lure is typically more impactful with earthstone and most warriors/rogues utilizing the fire axe offhand.
