general discussion is for stuff that concerns EVERY class i think
this is mainly just concerning mages...
The admin merged posts and asked us to respond here. Its an update discussion about the mage nerf and class balance.

I didn't get in on the camo bubble. I didn't get in on the essence blade bubble. I didn't get in on the rogue bubble. I'm stuck with an underpowered mage I spent 15k plat on. I developed a brand new viable melee build and now it and all my gear I spend months aquiring for it is all wasted since fire is now the only viable route for mages and cooldown is to short to melee.

Where am I now?

Why play a class where skills cost more than other classes for same damage?
Why play a class with no auto attack?
Why play a class with 1/3 the armor?
Why play a caster?

Hi there, we have been doing extensive testing and are looking into ways to make energy shield a better gameplay mechanic, currently it's very binary either you have a shield or you die which isn't that great. There should be several strategies rather than having to have a shield all the time, so with that in mind we will be looking into any suggestions about this. As always we will also be listening to any requests resulting in balance such as this one.
Testing? Then why the brainless move of totally needing e shield and nothing to replace it? Have u ever played a Mage for half a year and then find out its so bad now that there is almost no defence and adding up, we have weak armor. Seriously?

I know it doesn't seem like it, but I am not trying to be a jerk....

You keep saying you have the best build in the game, but you also say you lose kills to characters 20 levels below you. At some point you accept that you have missed something with your build, because it does not translate into practical application.

You may be 100% correct that you have the most efficient DPS build for a Mage that ever existed, but I suspect the variable you have missed is time, how long does it take for you to see a positive net return. That is to say, how does your build stack up against the burst damage that other people use. Will you out DPS them in 30 minutes...in an hour? Do you know any fights that last that long?

It is no secret that I am not your biggest fan, but i don't want see you this frustrated either. You will not find even one other complaint that a Mage can not out kill a character 20 levels lower. Honestly, that is not an issue with the game, it is an issue with how you are playing it.

Aengus I am built for solo leveling however I have sigils so I have no regen skills.

My current build is max shards, max bolt, max storm, precisely tuned lures for the monsters I'm killing, and rest into shield.

Tell me that isn't a dps build.

Now I go to boss fights with my clan and I never get the kill. I loose the kill to druids and rogues 20 levels under me. Yes tey die alot but heck i'm 20 levels above them.

Then I duel a lvl 90 rogue with my 137 mage as shown above today. He destroys my shield before I can get lures up and takes me to 1/4 health before i kill him. And his assassinate missed otherwise he would have beat me.

Only option is to turn him into a lure monkey and make a new main.

One issue I have with Mage is it costs about 90 skill points just to use a decent firebolt. We don't have auto melee damage, and to just use fire bolt is 35 points in fire bolt, 35 points in fire attunement because without it our fire bolt is the same as another's classes melee, and then we need to put points in a fire lure to make it all work.

If you wanted to max a fire lure so u are capable of reaching your max listed fire bolt in skills list (not always hitting max listed) then that would be 35 firebolt + 35 fire attunement + 35 fire lure= 105 skill points just to have a fully effective working damage skill. Now of course this can be tweaked and fine tuned to save points. But this is just for one decent attack as it is a skill based character and we aren't relying on melee damage for a pick me upper.

And then let's not forget the fact that the mob evades every third time u cast it. Wich then makes 90-105 skill points being your only one skill that doesn't even hit half the time.

Actually, I said you probably DO have the best dps build in the game, but it isn't working is it?

Drop storm, max fire attune. You will do more damage quickly...but maybe not as much over an hour.

Im not complaining about damage nerf at all but engry shild i never had it max becus it use way to much engry now to have it were it was befor i had to max it and 1 shil drans my engry almes past half and i go fight a mob i run out of engry befor i can kill it eaven max with 1 ring stll not as strong wen my shild gone i de 3-4 hits with the new level 120 armor my hp 2k atm its supper hard level il try messing with sklls a bit if i cant get work il be goign back my 116 warrior so im not to out only have level 4 level get were my mag is

5000 attck and 1.7k damage with 40 sneak rend and 46 quickstrike vs a mage with 50 sheds 45 firebolt 48 incin and i think 35 Firestorm and frostbite. On a combo with 46 pirece and 40 fire and ice lure up. Nothing wrong with my build.
If a mage is running that build then he's going to out DPS anyone in the game if another mage is luring but it's not a viable build outside of any boss fights as your damage would be horrible solo without lures. Also, he must have sigils out the wazoo! But I concede, with that spec I can't see him not winning any DPS battle so I believe you.
Which shouldn't be the case. I should with my build still win. Yes he has many sigs but i was spamming pots to keep up with energy consumption as a test and i couldnt win. Luring outside is viable because my lures and his lures was all up to boost damage. When lures arnt up he also wins. This is why i say my rogue should be boosted not nerfed. The auto attack misses half the time what what every damage does its just not enough.
Brookie please post a picture of these stats you seem to come up with, I'd really like to see them. The numbers you come up with are ridiculously outrageous and total lies. Please post viable information next tome you want to complain about a class, cause these stats you come up with are absolute bs
