I would recommend maxing cloak, the skill is just so awesome, low energy cost and great dmg.

Could be a noob question but does a firebolt + cloak fire / fire bolt build generates more dps than a shard + blast over time? Lets not include energy cost and evasions and the mob has a long life.

Yes it does. See for yourself (please test with fairness, if you have like 1k ice magic ability and 1 fire magic ability than of course shard+blast does more dps).

I have an ice mage build and am currently lvl 170. I have both ice and fire ability maxed. With ice attunement ice blast ice shard with a lure i hit about 10k+ DMg between the two. Fire bolt and firestorm about 5 k DMg. Ice shard boosts up by the time firestorm does and another 4 k DMg is hit by the ice shard. By the second cool down of ice shards ice blast is good to go. For lower levels fire is great but for higher ice is much better IMO

for fast lvling groups you only have time to shoot an ice shard and an ice blast, and thats ur best dps in that situation.

so the answer is if you spend most of your time lvling in groups; ice, most of time lvling solo; fire
