and whoever said that putting 15 points into a lure reduces resistance to 0 is on crack. I can raise my Lure of assasin ten points at a time all the way to 50 and see a rouge increase its damage.

Lure of 18-19 ( depending focus) is enough for me to get max hits on lv180 mobs ( excluding bosses ), so a 20 fire lure should be enough to bring a 190s resist to 0 i think.
And mages in pvp arena..make me laugh/cry at the same time..
How much do you figure i need for fire boggans? (With 600 focus)

there is a curve no matter what you do in the game. So if you were to add focus 10 points at a time and look at the damage in crease of your spells you would see it starts to taper. Same thing happens when attacking mobs with lures. a max fire lure will get you the most damage but due to the curve the points are better spent in other skills. in your case. Max fire attune max fire lure max fire bolt max firestorm and see what happens. if you dont see that much of a change by maxing all of them out maybe you would want to put points into ice shards and iceblast as a alt skill to use during cool downs.

Lures eventually lower a mob's resistance to 0 and after that there is no point in putting points in the lure. Of course bosses have extremly high resistance so a maxed lure would have greater effectiveness in boss fights. I just remember Dutch saying how much was needed to lower a fire golem's resistence to 0 and figured he might have an idea how much i would need for fire boggans.

I got some info from mdimarco and i started doing some alchemics myself :D
You need about 432 to bring a 3* fire golem to 0 i believe (if i remember correctly)
But i dont see why people max their lures..okay for bosses it can be usefull but use an al book to max all lures everytime a boss pops up..geez 20 lure is enough ( dont know about physical lures but elementals do ).

@escilator, why not? A lv15 lure is enough for 160 mobs as ive experienced:)

Just to let the record show lol 15 skill points in any lure gets all mobs resist down to 0 no need to go past that it will make no difference
I'm am not sure that still applies to the new higher level mobs in Carrowmore and it certainly does not apply to bosses.
I don't see mages that bad but yea i agree with the armor its a bit to lil but still mages arnt meant to tank.. And if you want to go solo build try maxing energy shield every class there ups and downs as me a lvl 182 mage i get majority of kills of dragonlord bosses we have our insane dmg but we die to quick thats our up and downs
Ok, I must be doing something incorrectly. Can you explain your build? If you say something like: firebolt, firestorm, lure of fire, attunement, and ice shards... I will smh. ._.
My build is
Firebolt 50/40
Fire attutance 40/40
Incinerate 45/40
Fire lure 30/40
E boost 35/40
Storm 19/40
Cloak 16/40

Gear:
Dragonlord chest +5 cloak
Dragonlord helm +5 ice blast
Dragonlord pants +5 energy shield

Dragonlord boots +5 e boost
Dragonlord wand 200 focus
Seer of mystic lvl 150 focus offhand

Jewels:
Talisman of stars (40 per tick)
Aggy brace +5 cloak +250 fire magic +75 vit

Charm: Frost charm of decay (corvax)
Charm: greater firebolt +100 bolt
Minor aggy fire lure ring +6 lure

And no i don't have energy problems
