Should mages put something in dexterity to improve our reflexes and avoid some damage. At least for training.

Rangers have some nice frost gear from this last event. 250 defence helm, 250 defence boots 8-)

Dexterity is definitely not useless, don't get me wrong. But you shouldn't think whether something is beneficial or not, you have to identify which stat is more beneficial. Having some points in dexterity will of course make you dodge attacks (rarely), but instead you could put points in focus for more damage, or vitality for more health. The reason mages are not suited for dexterity is because 1. we have no skills that are dependent on dexterity, and 2. we have no use for the attack it provides (mages 99% of the time don't auto-attack), making the stat not that effective.

Their are two other skills, Focus and Vitality. If we're talking about Dexterity, then it comes with two assets like you said. Att and Defence.
Currently, I use a Dragonlord wand and a Shield when training. My eshield is 50/50, so most of the time a 1-3* mob will never ever penetrate my vitality. Dexterity can help a mage by increasing the lifespan of his eshield, and by increasing his Dragonlord wand auto attack. I suggest, with a DPS firemage training build (with eshield) you should go with around 100 dexterity (at lvl 190). But dexterity is useless for bossfights unless your put on adds.

I recommend no dexterity, why improve a chance to dodge over increasing your health. Defense gear decent, but i don't think it's a good idea to have dex and worry if ill dodge this or that id rather know 100% that id live. Go with vit
