Would it be a good idea to buy the Royal Shield of Mountain?

Also what if I bought the golden blade of fire - would that help my fire bolt skill any?

Do not buy the Royal Shield of the Mountain. Level up to 100 (get a friend to help if necessary), then get either a Focus of the Seer or Shield of the Rampart.

However, if your budget is low, you should buy either the Master's Grimoire or the Royal Shield of the Mountain.

Whether you go for the focus offhand or the shield depends on your personal play style. Focus offhand gives you more damage, shield gives you more survivability.

It only helps your auto attack damage, which is not useful for caster mages.

Oh OK that makes sense. I still prefer masters grim though

the replies are all correct. at 100 i prefer the rampart shield for leveling. for pvp and bossing you can use the focus of the seer. the mountain shield is decent, but the rampart shield gives more resistances, armor, and added vitality, making it a better choice.

Personally I'm a sucker for DPS and will sacrifice a lot of survivability for a bit more damage, but that's just me.

Leveling with a shield is definitely not a bad idea.

Only have 250k that can barely get you something decent.
I was thinking of buying Golden Crown of Wizardy and Master's Grimoire off players to get them a little cheaper. But now I kinda wanna get the Royal Shield of mountain since many are saying it would help me level.
My current lvl is 98 now.
