Re: Firemage high hit vs icemage high hit

I had void fire storm skull and shadow bolt skull but I chose shadow bolt.

Just because the storm gets a larger cut in cool down, doesn't make much of a difference. It only makes a difference if there's a huge difference in damage between the two.

No I actually wanted to know more about firestorm skull. Generally I find the little cooldown reduction to firebolt not too amazing (In theory, Im not a mage at these lvls, 20% will take 1.2 secs, 25% will take 1.5 secs), while the cooldown reduction to firestorm could be bigger and lower the gap between firebolt and firestorm, making firestorm fast and effective.
ok so in 15 mins since thats the time of a lix u would get 36 more bolts with a 20% skull and 18 more storms with a 20% firestorm skull so my bolt does like 7500 to multiply that by 36 thats 270000 more dmg by the end of 15 mins with bolt and if my storm did 8.6k max with my normal leveling gear a skull would add 137600 dmg so the bolt skull would be better just cause the storm reduces more time wont make it more effective :geek:
Again, u used wrong method to calculate. I didnt ask u to choose random time (long one as well) and calculate the difference, I chose u to calculate the difference between how many more bolts will 20% gain u and how many more storms will 20% gain u. Big gap or not, its a question of where u gain more speed, I didnt think the skull will make firestorm beat firebolt, I asked if the 1.2 secs from firebolt will beat how many seconds it is on firestorm, considering the dmg difference.

Criminal, your math skills are far too lacking to contribute to this thread so I'll break it down for you in more simple terms:
Overall, not including skulls, firebolt has about double the dps of firestorm over a long duration (such as a boss)
Say firebolt has 1000 dps, and firestorm has 500. If you reduce cooldown by 30 percent you're essentially increasing dps by that amount (again, some discrepancies due to cast time). So in this example a void skull increases the dps of firestorm by 500*.3=150. A dark firebolt storm on the other hand would increase your dps by 20 percent of 1000*.2=200. Again, it's not a precise calculation; only an estimate. But some of you who are obsessed with the concept of "reducing number of seconds on cooldown" are very incorrect. Whatever has the better dps before the cdr skull will have a proportionally larger dps with one equipped.
