Ok it really depends on the type of game you play (group vs solo). This is also mob dependent, so concentrate on the mob that you do the majority of your training on.

The goal is to run out of HP and Energy at the same time. That way you use your all in a fight and can take the highest level mobs that get you the best xp.

So first get rid of the STR you don't need it.

I assume you will be doing a lot of solo work because of your level. You are probably running out of energy long before running out of HP. I recommend an balanced build at your level (instead of an energy build which is more for group work) . Go for more of a 50%/50% vit/focus and then adjust as you level to increase the one you run out of first.

Get used to waiting between fights.

You are high enough level that things are going to start having defense vs ice and fire so you should have points in your Lures. One thing most people don't know is that you get more effect per skill point in the first 10 levels of a skill. So 5 in lure and 10 in fire bolt should do more damage then 15 in fire bolt.

I have nothing in Bandage because I never get to cast it in combat anyway, it gets interrupted to often.

Hope this helps.

ok so in other words i should redo my stats to even out my vit and focus. also i should take points out of fire bolt and ice shards and place into the lures. is that correct? and also i never use the energy shield. is it a good idea to invest into that as well?

To energy shield or not to energy shield???? Ok it is a good skill to start a fight because you get interrupt protection. But it is about 40 points for every skill level you put into it (How much depends on ice ability level). So if you want to create a nice 200 pt buffer and have the energy to do it great. A common strategy is to cast e shield and then wait until it recharges to start the fight. That gives you a chance to recharge E a bit and start a fight with a full shield. It does cast well in a fight so you can put it up again if you have the 200 E to spare. I suggest you save a few points and play the toon for a while and see if you have the points to spare before committing them. Use your level 1 shield and see how it works. I always put it up for a little extra protection since the first hit tends to be the big one.

I have not put too much into it because adding 1 point to my ice shards gives me more damage per skill point than the e shield gives me protection per skill point. damage and protection are the same thing both add to your combat efficiency (see really long post on combat efficiency)

I put very few points on vitality, mainly because I intend to kill quickly whether it's PVE or PVP. I have 130+ points on focus so energy shield doesn't eat all my energy. I have a few points on dexterity too. I think 25 total. I only have 3 points on energy shield, but it works very well. I also make sure to max out ice shards, then fire bolt IN THAT ORDER. Everything else has no points on them. It works extremely well and I can fight 4+ enemies my level before having to rest.

Firebolt is probably the better skill to be maxed first for obvious reasons.

I've been trying out the ice built (see other topic) at lvl 67 and I enjoy it greatly. It works great for my lvl.

My current stats:
5
5
er...not sure..3something
10

Point is that I put ALL my points into focus. Even at lvl 67 I have enough vitality to start a fight and cast shield after a few moments.

As Skills I have:
20/20 energy shield
20/20 Ice Shards
13/20 Lure of Ice
10/20 Fire bolt
9/20 Lure of Fire
2/20 Cloak of Fire

I did buy some energy sigils (not very many tho). Id recommend putting some points into meditate. You can cast shield before fight, meditate shortly and then engage.

While a energy/vit built is probably necessary in the otherworld because of how hard mobs hit, in my experience as a lower lvl having a pure focus built and using shield works best. My shield at 10 was enough to survive a fight in stonevale, I only boosted to 20 because of pvp. So, id say when you put your points, take them one at a time, go into a fight and test if you need to put another point into one of the skills.

The most important things are your abilities though. Make sure you max them out in order to gain a max amount of dmg.

Good post King :)

Here is my build:
Str: 5
Dex: 5
Focus: 228
Vitality: 212

I will be considered balance build. But to be honest, it is still really hard for me to survive in the Other world and to fight mob 5+ lvl. (I used to easily fight mob 5+ in other areas).

Here is my skill point:
Fire Bolt: 18
Cloak: 15
Lure of Fire: 11 (I wished I make it 15 instead)
Lure of Ice: 15
Ice Shards: 15
Energy Boost: 15

I have EB here which most mage will not ever bother spend point on it. I do not have sigils, b/c I do not want to spend real money in the game. So Meditation and EB will be really necessary for me to shorten the time in between battle. I think EB is more effective (even regen less than Meditation) if you have high Ice Skill and Focus. I suggest you should boost your focus b/c focus bounce did make a diff in fight. I max out my fire ability (used to be a fire mage with Lure of Fire, cloak and Fire bolt maxed) and like 900 something with my ice abilities. Whether or not I win the battle depend on whether of not my ice shards hit the enemy. I can usually kill mob in OW within 2 ice shards (does 600 some damage plus fire bolt does 350 some damage). After update, I feel like Cloak is useless. It works half of the time and the damage is not that good at all. Anyone comment on their Cloak? I feel like the make it weaker to balance between classes. I am think putting the point into Lure of Magic instead of Cloak if Lure of Magic does what it says in the description...

I am level 69 (close to 70) and use the following build:

Strength 5
Dexterity 5
Focus 180
Vitality 180

Ice Magic: 790/790
Fire Magic: 790/790

Firebolt 19/20
Cloak 20/20
Lure of Fire 6/20
Ice Shards 9/20
Energy Shield 7/20
Energy Boost 9/20
Sacrifice 5/20

Yeah, I am one of those lucky guys who already have Sacrifice :) But I am thinking about using a Book of Alteration to distribute all the points from Energy Boost to Ice Shards and Lure of Ice as Sacrifice already gives me 61 energy in exchange for 55 health. I like having 7 points in the shield, for I play a lot of PvP as well and even beat Warriors who are 25 levels above me. One reason for that is my equipment, which is as follows:

Loremantle Helm, Shoes and Skirt (1 DD away from BP)
Connacht Magus Gloves
Mighty Crown Shield of Energy
Skygem Quartz Cane
4 Greater Charstone Rings
Lesser Bracelet of Stone
Heroic Ammy of Regen

This really helps me staying in a fight! I have 1220 health, 1125 energy and 287 physical armour :)
