So I made an ice mage last week and it was very fun but I noticed that my ice blast did less damage than ice shards (both had ice attune bonus). Is this supposed to happen because it takes longer to cast, more energy and longer to cool down. I have never used this skill before so i have no clue.

To my knowledge it always does less damage, the only real advantage is that it does damage to numerous enemies in a certain radius.

Do they have the same amount of points in it?

Tell them to say hi to me in beta I'll warm them up all right
But from a raw data point, firemages will win on a mob with equal resistances between elemental damages. For example mobs like Heliants, most leveling mobs in tower, obelisk of power in the ow, aggy...
