Here are some of my thoughts about the Mage class that I love:

1. Someone mentoned above that normal mobs do not need to be lured. I would disagree. Mobs over 50 seem to have resistances, like players do with gear.

2. One of my main complaints is that Frozen Armor and the wand really are not usable, when Diamond gear is available. I see all other classes using their blue Frozen gear, but I will not until it comes with a Focus bonus.

3. I enjoy having Lures. Without them, I would have a next to zero role in Boss fights. As it is, with maxed Lures, I can sometimes shorten a Boss fight by 1/2.

4. I agree that we need more damaging skills. If they cost sooooo freaking much Energy to cast, why not NUKE the heck out of baddies.

5. Energy Shield works fairly well, just need slightly shorter cool-down. Let us read how much HP worth of damage it will take somehow when it's up.

6. Make our gear more resistant to magical attacks. We are supposed to be experts in "Elemental damage", it makes since that we can avoid it better. Especially since or armor is paper thin vs melee attacks.

Hi MD.

I've taken a look at your mage builds on the wiki.

Some points I disagree with.

Dex to 100 is useless. Just keep tapping your spell and usually on the second try it will work and not be interrupted. Putting points into dex takes away vit or focus.
Freeze is useless. Too many points to get a 120+ monster to freeze. And it doesn't give you anytime to do jack.
If you do become a "support" mage your attack skills will be neurtered and you won't be able to level.

These are off the top of my head. Busy.
Go naked and put 100 into vit and 100 into focus. Nothing in str or dex.
Each area is a vendor starting with highshore village all the way to ow.
Get the best gear + jewelry for your lvl.
See your stats after the've been enhanced with gear.
Now start adjusting vit and focus to what you want.

I will be a lvl 125 Mage by sunday. Currently my vit and focus are equal. But other times i've had a 500 point difference between them.
Sadly its trial and error to find the best combination for your toon, because everyone's toon is completely different.

Ok. So after reading all of the comments; here are some ways we can fix mages and a few problems or reasons:
Increased armour
A skill or a thing which increases the reason why people want mages in a group
In game tips say they are dps not support. When they aren't really even close to being a dps
Be able to kill 2+ mobs before having to regen hp
Increased skill damage
More survivability
Shouldn't have to use lures to achieve max dps when other classes can without lures
Increased energy regen rate
Specific role (not all mumble jumbled)
Increased auto attack
Mages should have highest skills hit ingame as they are based on skills. Since they aren't somethings wrong
Ice shards increased or unevaidable
Mages should be able to have a chance of competing with rogues on different monsters
Increased energy
More skill points
Solo fights are quicker and easier to survive
More chance of surviving against an enemy without having to hope you don't die
More reliance on wand
Make energy boost work like natures embrace
Not having to choose whether you want to be attack or support based
Make more reasons why mages should keep being mages. Not having to quit or change to another class
Not have to be plat based
Sigils make a difference in combat
Energy shield quicker cooldown
freeze lasts longer
Sacrifice use same formula as natures touch
Skills are the only way mages can train and yet its damage is hopeless

Honestly, there are soooo many things messed up with mages, I don't know where to begin, but I'll start with this (yes, maybe some of this has been said before, I skimmed through)
1) Increase armour.... I'm tired of watching a lvl 80 mob hit constant 80+ on a 121 Mage with full frozen.....
2) Make the wand actually useful, I only have it at around 650 because it's just worthless.... Even with a full lure of magic and golden trident, I still hit pretty low (attack speed, and damage is very bad).
3) SHOULDN'T BE PLAT BASED! To successfully level a Mage over 100+ you probably gotta buy plat, or just train very slowly (or go support and group).
4) Frozen wand - make the proc chance go from magic spell attacks like fireball, instead of wand hits.
5) Either shorten energy shield, or make it be able to withstand more health (also putting in how much health you have on it would be useful).
6) More damaging skills.
I will occasionly browse the forums, but for the most part im done.

What about maybe combining freeze and ice lure. Meaning that once you cast freeze it either slows down or weakens the mobs ressistance to ice, or overall strength of the mob. Make it that when you freeze something it would take a while for it to "thaw out" or shake off the effect of being frozen. I agree with others that the current version of freeze is totally useless.
