another point on arena is u cant recast ur attune to hav that added damage and also not everyone wants to waste points on e shield or even e boost our "insane damage" as u put it comes from needing to max skills but we can only max 4 or 5 at lvl 180 maybe 6 if you are lucky and hav the perfect gear for it point is you need to max ur 2 damage skills and attune to even hav any "insane damage" and then u need ur lure at least half and where does that leave u on points for e shield and e boost? not enough skill points do make a great build for a mage

It is un realistic for a rogue to spam 3 instant cast skills on u in arena, especially with a death penalty that makes ur hp from 4k to Max 1700.

Yes I agree, but I am not sure where you even came up with that? Using idols in arena was not mentioned once at all in this whole thread. And if u are implying that because my hp goes to 1700 from 4k due to multiple death penalties and that is from idoling? Well let me tell you in a world with clan competition, since it is clear your world has no idea what that is.

Well I can die and run back from laystone well before the death penalty goes away.. Be hit 2-3 times and be right back at leystone running back again. After afew times you have only enough hp to survive 1 melee.

And that doesn't take long when your enemy is on heroic haste.

But as said again.. Idols were not mentioned once in this whole thread so I may be interpreting what your comment meant, fOrgive me if I'm wrong

you call people beating up each in the arena as "clan competition" ? It does happen in Morrigan and its an idol fest. There is no reason to rush back from leystone to arena, wait until dp goes away. But why? who's counting the kills? Who is to say one clan wins if its evenly matched? It's not as if you can wipe an entire clan in the arena lol, totally pointless activity. Sure you can dominate the sand against a weaker clan who can't even kill anyone of you, but that isn't "competition" in my book.

Mage is definitely a crappy solo class , I guess that's the price of absolutely insane damage.
2k+ sigils is the price of that insane damage.

I'm not saying mages don't need the sigils but they are not required , certainly not that many in order to do insane damage .
As a firemage, there are very few periods to let sigils tick. Therefore, it is necessary to have a large amount in order to spend the least amount of time not casting.

In my current build, solely depending on eboost for energy and all points in focus, I am just able to "break even" with energy. In this build, I am not able to out dps rogues and rangers and I am about even with a druid. This is, of course, without any lures (besides my lure of fire) and no haste elixers.

Mages can do some great damage but to be "insane," you need a large amount of sigils. During casting (assuming I am at a boss) I would get a break of one tick for sigils every 15 secs. 50/40 firebolt costs 273 energy, 40/40 firestorm costs 431 energy, 46/40 lure of fire costs 227, and 38/40 fire attunement 207 energy. Using the dl skill may also mess up the timing.

I would start raging about losing attunement and eboost...armour.... Too much.... End rant.

Just to let the record show lol 15 skill points in any lure gets all mobs resist down to 0 no need to go past that it will make no difference

I don't see mages that bad but yea i agree with the armor its a bit to lil but still mages arnt meant to tank.. And if you want to go solo build try maxing energy shield every class there ups and downs as me a lvl 182 mage i get majority of kills of dragonlord bosses we have our insane dmg but we die to quick thats our up and downs

I'm am not sure that still applies to the new higher level mobs in Carrowmore and it certainly does not apply to bosses.

Ok, I must be doing something incorrectly. Can you explain your build? If you say something like: firebolt, firestorm, lure of fire, attunement, and ice shards... I will smh. ._.

Lure of 18-19 ( depending focus) is enough for me to get max hits on lv180 mobs ( excluding bosses ), so a 20 fire lure should be enough to bring a 190s resist to 0 i think.
And mages in pvp arena..make me laugh/cry at the same time..
