yes for pvp it would be very OP, but i less care for pvp and think only for bosses and lvling
i said 10k on pve since mages hit hard, less than that would almost be 1hit break anyway, could last for 3 hits like that, i didnt say it has to be heat dmg, it could be any dmg
then again it just a basic idea, it wouldnt prob be the way it'll work, but need to make it somehow better

it could actually be from shield bash to bolas instead, it'll freeze for few secs at first, when it breaks the mob will move slowly instead of standing in it's place
so u could for example let sigils kick in (for lvling), cast lures if u didnt already, and start attacking

OP? What? How does making targets pretty much invulnerable in PvP make the skill OP. You're pretty much standing there, unable to attack the person you froze, because it would take 10k damage to actually do anything to them..

Edit: The bash to bolas idea is good though. Makes more sense than them being rooted I suppose.

OP? What? How does making targets pretty much invulnerable in PvP make the skill OP. You're pretty much standing there, unable to attack the person you froze, because it would take 10k damage to actually do anything to them..

the main reason why it could be good for pvp is sigils, with sigils and freeze u can beat a lot of ppl
adding the ability to take 10k dmg, thats enough time to let sigils kick in + give him some hits without breaking it

what i meant is that the 10k will still dmg the mob, but 10k wont break it, not giving them a shield of 10k dmg, thats useless and stupid idea and i would laugh myself if i would suggest that
just making the freeze being able to take 10k dmg before it breaks, while it still dmgs the mob/player

The only negative is that it would make the mobs that use freeze, like the ice boggins, a real pain in the rear.

Requiring heat damage to break shield, or absorbing damage is not a good idea.

Maybe make it that frozen target cannot move, even if freeze is broken. So, it would go from shield bash to grasping roots if hit during spell.
Heat damage comes from rogues and rangers dl anyways, for locking and high end bosses it would be terrible. I like the root scenario though, changes to frozen feet effect to mimic roots.

maybe if i explain my heat dmg idea it'll be more clear

what im suggesting isnt a shield of 10k dmg, what im suggesting is meant for soloing and bossing

for soloing :

if a fire mage wanna use it, and still hitting, it wont absorb the dmg, it'll be able to deal 10k dmg before its broken, while the mob is still getting dmged (that could be worked out a bit, to somehow match lvl system with dmg)
now the ice mage part, that would make them special, no heat dmg = no freeze broken
if its OP tho, again, need changes, this is just the base of this idea


for bossing :
here 10k dmg is nothing, but enough as heat dmg to let ppl stop attacking before it breaks, thats the main problem of this skill, other ppl dont have time to notice so it breaks
if u freeze, it has 10k dmg 'shield' (wont absorb, will still dmg), that way clan sees that its frozen and stop hitting for healing/anything else

another thing u could add to that, while the boss is frozen, rage timer is frozen as well

I like your bossing ides for freeze, criminal. that would make it near essential for bosses that cast energy shield or the really big bosses.

Only change I see that really needs to take place to Freeze is that it should be made to be AOE. Then it could truly be crowd control. Would actually benefit a group. Would allow you to freeze multiple mobs so that they could be dealt with. Timer and cooldown would be fine if it could freeze multiples.
