Thanks. A follow-up question has to do with the nature of lure itself. Does it add damage or remove the resistance that a target has to damage, allowing the spell to hit for its full amount?
Defense wise we have the defense stat, the armor stat, the various resistances (fire, cold, etc), and the various evasions. Lets assume I have a 300 point firebolt. Assuming that the evasion did not trigger, how much of the defense, armor, and/or resistance will be removed from my 300? If I use fire lure of 100, what does it get applied to, defense, armor, and/or resistance. Finally, can the targets defense/armor/resistance be reduce to a negative number? If so, then I can see lure adding damage.
Thanks again
Re: Lure or attune
#12Lures do this:
On a side note, if you're looking for damage boosters, you'll be interested in attunements. These are mage spells that add a fixed X amount of damage to either your fire or ice spells.
Fire attunement boosts the damage of your fire bolt and firestorm.
Ice attunement boosts the damage of your ice shards and ice blast.
Evasion is the defense equivalent, but for skills instead. For example, having high spell attack evasion will make you evade spells such as fire bolt or ice shards more.
Resistance is how much you resist a certain damage type. The elemental resistances are fire, cold, and magic. Fire mages = fire, ice mages = cold, druids = magic.
Armor translates into physical resistances. These are slash, pierce, and crush resistance. Swords/axes = slash, daggers/bows = pierce, hammers = crush.
To answer your question, if your fire lure power is at 100, then it will lower your target's fire resistance by 100. Defense and armor do not matter when you cast a fire bolt or other fire damage spell — only fire resistance matters.
I believe that -100 resistance is the same as 0 resistance.
Since lowering a target's resistance to negative numbers is excessive, most mages use a half-maxed lure (for example, 10/20 points invested). Maxed lures are good for pvp and bossing, because players and bosses have higher resistances.
The spell won't necessarily hit its full amount (100%), but it will certainly hit higher than usual.remove the resistance that a target has to damage, allowing the spell to hit for its full amount

Wish I could tell you. The exact mechanics of resistance/damage remain unknown. However, just remember that more resistance on your target = less damage taken by target.Defense wise we have the defense stat, the armor stat, the various resistances (fire, cold, etc), and the various evasions. Defense is the chance you will dodge an auto attack. That occurs when you see the "dodge" "parry" or "block" text show up instead of a damage number. If I use fire lure of 100, what does it get applied to, defense, armor, and/or resistance.

Yes, you can lower resistance to a negative number. However, this does not increase your maximum damage. If your fire bolt does a maximum of 300 damage (or whatever it says in your skills page), and you cast fire bolt on an enemy with -100 fire resistance, your fire bolt still cannot exceed 300 damage. Finally, can the targets defense/armor/resistance be reduce to a negative number? Re: Lure or attune
#13Perhaps -resist will not give higher dmg, but it'll give higher chances to hit closer to max (if -resist is possible).

Re: Lure or attune
#14To answer the question, thanks to Swan clearing a few things up, you really need to know what skill (on the same level of course) has the most effect. In my experience, with lure and no attune has always hit a little higher than attune with no lure. I have them both maxed.

#17There is a fire lure and a magic lure. is magic lure of any use when casting fire bolt? should both be used?
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Lure or attune
#18Magic damage is dealt by druids (for spells such as lightning strike and storm touch). Because most druids primarily focus on support, buffs, and heals, magic lure is rather useless. Generally speaking, don't bother putting it on your hot bar, and absolutely do not put points into it.There is a fire lure and a magic lure. is magic lure of any use when casting fire bolt? should both be used?

Casting magic lure won't affect the damage dealt by your fire bolt.
Re: Lure or attune
#20In a nutshell, yesAttu increases max damage and lure increases chance of max hit?
