Dude, what does that mean? How about.. here let's say my mage has ice shards 10/10 with 140 dmg. But because of my Ice Magic Ability, I have my ice shards still at 10/10, but with 160 dmg. So if i use book of alteration it turns ice shards into 1/10 with its original 80 dmg??!??! $##$^*^%#^!@(*!#??!?!??!What if for ex. u upgrade it into 10/10 again, then it has 140 dmg? Or 160? Does the ability difference stay if u use book of alteration?? I'm confused.
Thanks!!

What are you talking about?
You get your book of Alt and when you get your new Mage Skills you can decide whether to keep you old points or change them in favor of other new skills. Maybe you don't want to use Energy Shield any more, maybe you wanna try Incinerate, maybe you want to test Sacrifice or try Freeze...
You can reskill your skills and now depending on your Stats, namely your FOCUS the skill description reads exactly the kind of DMG you can expect to do(on a target with no resistances) so you can see.
The point is not decreasing your ice shards from 15 to 1 to 15, its on whether you want all 15 points there, or whether maybe another mixture of points might serve you better. It's a TOTALLY new STAT-Based system so I really wouldn't change your skills first, I would change your stats. And yes..
If you do (choosing fake numbers not real numbers) 160 DMG with 15/15 and 10 focus and switch to the update your
15/25 and 10 focus spell will do FAR LESS DMG. Probably like 60, because your focus is only 10 and there is no stat fueling that number. You need to change the stat and increase it to make the spell and any spell powerful.
