I have a level 42 mage. What can I use as an offhand at that level? Or is there even anything at that level worth using?
I would suggest a shield with the highest armor you can afford. I think the highshore village vendor sells a decent one.

Why play a class where skills cost more than other classes for same damage?
Why play a class with no auto attack?
Why play a class with 1/3 the armor?
Why play a caster?

Tog, I think 75 dex is good for a melee mage build.
OK thanks. My Kung Fu skill is about 800 now. I'm working on that Semi-AFK now. I'll try the build again soon. I still have me fire blade.

My vote is the Golden Blade of Fire, Trident, or shield. My build:

-Golden Crown of Energization- For energy regen, cuz my offhand doesnt have any
-Heroic Gloves of Haste- I hit about 4-5 times while fire bolt recharges
-Battlemist Diamond Gown- Hits harder with shards and bolt
-Battlemist Diamond Skirts- same
-Frozen Celestial Shoes
-Golden Blade of Fire
-Frozen Meteoric Wand
World: Mabon
Clan: Masmar/ Elite
-Rogue: Lvl 150+
-Mage: Lvl 137+
-Warrior: Lvl 125+
-Druid: Lvl 100+

Im kind of new playing mage but trident/earthstone. Does add damage to cast/melee. I try it before with ice trident/ blade and later change it my ice trident to fire you really can see a diferent with fire gear especially with heat damage wand. Increase cast/melee over all I went from 60 to 80 with greater soltices bonus and now 80+ im going with greater/lesser earthone armor and add fire damage with trident makes a huge diferent especially if u go hand to hand grimore just add a bit damage but tridents does pretty much close. + jump on melee hits doubles.

I have this amazing build. Kudos to Dent in Arawn for encouraging me to make a mage. At 151 I have the following:

35/35 Fire Cloak
35/35 Fire Bolt
35/35 Energy Shield
20/35 Fire Lure
30/35 Incinerate

I equip full Radiant Armor set, 2 Godly Wyrm Bracelets, Radiant Willow Ring, Greater Willow Ring, Radiant Birch Ring, 25 Cold Dmg Ring (Haha traded my Aggy 40 Heat a long time ago), Radiant Blackthorn Necklace, Golden Blade of Fire and no main wep using H2H. (Full Frozen set for fashion shows!)

Stats: 5 100 350 345

Lemme tell ya. Holy Crap. This build blows away my Rogue with the exact same armor and he's built for DPS. My warrior...haha not even close. Poor guy. Alas he's relegated to tank duty and is gathering dust between bosses. I am in LOVE with my mage and I'm a warrior at heart. This is perfect for me because I'm a hack and slash kinda guy. I tried the typical mage build using ice and fire and it just didn't work for me. It wasn't powerful enough. I love being fearless in the arena and I wear out Wyverns so fast I don't need any lixes or pots in the cave. I can just hang out and farm wyrm bracelets and enchanted scales at no cost. My mage is a money making machine and a beast pvp and solo char. It makes my heartrate speed up. That's really true. It's that much fun. I highly recommend this build.

Do you use sigils? What is your energy regen? Do you run out of energy?
