Only 1/10 of lvl 120+ chars are mages while there are only 5 classes. That means mages are leveling 50% less than other classes on average in the high levels, or there are just 50% less mages than other classes on average.
(76 mages 120+ out of 725 total players 120+ (10.5%)
Same for lvl 100+. There are 1814 players 100+, 183 of them are mages. (10%)
lvl 80+ 3705
lvl 80+ mages 409. (11%)
lvl 60+ 6630
lvl 60+ mages 777 (11.7%)
Please offer your proposed explanations.
Edited to change "50% harder to level" to "leveled 50% less" to stay true to the purpose of this thread, which is to hear your explanations. Thanks.

A Mage, tank, druid is hands down the best leveling team. Simply no comparison to other groupings. I don't think most of these complaints have to do with he class, but more with play style and expectations. In my clan we are almost all leveling mages now. No doubt we are just stupid.
Ok sure I won't argue that point. However lets look at some logistics:
At least 50% of leveling occurs solo.
That leaves a remaining 50%.
Now at least 50% of group levelin is in pairs. If its in pairs, a druid is always preferred.
That leaves 25%.
So your saying that mages will have 25% of the leveling opportunities as the melee classes.

My answer to everything these days is its just a class balance issue. And mages are only hard to level because of energy. This idea is based on the amount of mages but sadly it's not just that mages are hard to level but its the fact that mages are the least favorite class to play

I appreciate your inquiry, however, there are multiple problems with making the assertion you have based solely on these data. Other possible explanations for this information could include the following-
Mages may be more complicated to understand and, therefore, people may give up on them more quickly.
People may be more apprehensive to group with mages to level (their benefit is not as clearly delineated as a tank, for example).
There may have been an influx of mages created later on in the game, meaning that these characters simply haven't been around as long.
Mages may be more highly preferred by busy professionals with less time to grind on the game (although, curiously, they have time to write lengthy responses on the forums instead of doing their homework

)
Mage builders spend too much time doing statistics and less time grinding their characters (I think this forum provides adequate evidence of this).

This is what I'm looking for in reply's
I proposed the simple statistic that there are a disporportionally low number of mages as high level, and I want you to offer your explanations why you think this is.
I intentionally reply'd to my own topic to offer my thoughts,
but my intention is you all think for yourself and offer your explanations.
Perfect, thanks Mancandy.

We have to remember that the Mage was the least played class before the update. So there were a very few level 80s and up when Update 3 came out. I don't think people have hit the wall long enough to let the new mages catch up. Personally I have seen some new mages but not enough to compensate the prior rarity.
So I think the data available can not make any statement about today's Mage. It is an invalid sample.

From memory.
I'm the only mage that is 120+ in my clan. 44 players.
I'm the only mage that is 100+ in my clan.
I'm the only mage that is 90+ in my clan.
LOL you get the picture.

Ok papi, that makes some sense. Now I will just expand my search. I'll do 100+ and see what that shows

80+ 3705
80+ mages 409
Ok now in this sample mages arent 10%, seems like they graduated to 11%.
