Best mage build

Since the latest patch done for mage, mages seem to enjoy more their skills at higher lvl while energy last longer but there r still some complaints about skill pts not enough to master all skills they want as its obvious all classes cant, and some complain about energy cost of mage skills still too high which can take 7k energy out in 4mins even though 200 invested on sigils
As many mage players still trying to work out which skills r best to master while worrying about energy regen, here r my solution:
5 main Skills Build
1. Firebolt: use it as main attack coz firebolt is interruptable casting, fastest casting time, and fastest cool down time. max it if possible
2. Lure of fire: is neccessary as it support Firebolt, Cloak, and offhand wep (did u hear offhand wep? yes)
3. Energy Shield: slowly add points to make u last longer in battles when u feel ok with ur energy regen
4. Energy Boost: better to always keep its lvl higher than Energy Shield
5. Cloak: useful as u need to cast it only once before battle/s and dmg enemies even their attacks miss
Only 5 skills to focus, ur skill pts should be sufficient
Needed Equipments
1. Blade or Trident of fire: Blade gives higher dps; Trident gives nice regen, offence (better successful hit rate), and defence
2. Heroic gloves of speed: use hand to hand with this gloves, u can hit an enemy 3times in between firebolt recasting
Option: radiant helm, boots, pants, and even chest r best to have (same as other class build)
State Build
4 to foc and 1 to vit (never try on high dex but str is useless)
FH

4. Energy Boost: better to always keep its lvl higher than Energy Shield
For arguments sake, if we remove the skill above, what is your next choice?

Don't know about "best" but definitely a very nice post!
Stealing a post from Druids, that talks about Str (applicable to this build too, if you're considering your auto attacks), and also the pro and con of Trident vs Blade.

Personally, i havent tried this, but I've thought about it, and maybe someone might like it? Ik mdiam said something about this.....
Max cloak
Max lure of fire
Max e shield
Max e boost
Max incinierate
Simple, with a golden fire blade, and heroic gloves, with the golden helm of intensity you should be autoing 200s (with the amazing lure) and have your cloak and incinerate combo for insane damage.
Also, with only e shield being your main energy deprivation, the max e regen really helps

This is my current build minus incinerate and e boost. Those points have went into ice shards but with the spell evaded quite a bit and damage varying from 200-800 I feel it is a crap shoot when speaking to its effectiveness.

Cad, why Ice shard and not Firebolt?

I've maxed the following and I rock the heat damage with armor and offhand
Lure of Fire
Cloak of Fire
Firebolt
Energy Shield
The points in shards was just to see if it provided more damage, for the energy, over time compaired to incinerate. I'm honestly befuddled by both as neither seems worth the point cost and energy use to me. I am going to put the points back into incinerate I think, if only to focus on one lure.

Shards/ice lre
but you knew that was what I'd say
