I originally thought that I was loosing kills due to lure of assasins and heroic haste lixes but I seem to be loosing the kill to rangers who are not using any haste lixes and there are no lure assasins. I'm also loosing the kill to druids and rogues that are lower leveled. I know icemage was supposed to suck but this seems crazy. I'm full focus with my dps skills (including attune) at 50/40...

Ice blast needs a buff before anything happens. It needs to have the cooldown of firestorm or something, considering the insane energy costs and terrible damage.

Yeh I can agree, seems that ice blast isn't necessarily all to great at the time now, and frostbite might be lacking some dps since it is fairly weak compared to that of other classes dots, even though this is the mage's second dps. Regardless, ice mage needs a boost, especially since your dps isn't winning fight with so many of your skills top offed at 50/40.

imho Ice mage is the best in game when it comes to short to medium fights (solo mages and longer fights fire mage will be slightly better at high lvls)

my ice blast hits for up to 9100 damage (which is the highest on Crom) and ice shards slightly behind at 8700

i am very lucky to have such nice items.

here are my stats and skills if anyone is interested:

Ice blast 50/40 (40,aggy brace+5,royal ring +5)
ice shards 50/40 (40, dragonlord helm +5, royal ring +5)
ice attune 49/40 (40, royal ring +5, grand ring +4)
ice lure 40/40
e shield 32/40 (27, dragonlord pants +5, and adding to as im lvling)
firebolt 5 (dragon lord gloves) not used
cloak of fire 5 (aggy bracelet) not used
all rest lvl 1

This is quite a simple build. two main attacks and a reasonable e shield. if you find you like to solo more, or, die a lot, you could swap some points from lure, into shield, however lvl 40 lure is just about right for lowering the 180 wryms resistance to (almost) zero.

I tried ice mage. It sucks on pvp lol. A level 90 warrior killed me... Im level 113 .__.

There is definetly something wrong. I even have the offhand and I'm not getting the kill... No lures and no hastes. That is about as fair as you can get.

Sorry to come off as another complainer but this really seems lame. I hear all the whining of mages are op dps and I can't get a single kill. Not even on mobs when one of my skills evade.

Yup, when the dragon fire update was coming out there was a riot in shalemont everyone shouting mages are op and should get nerfed. Sadly i was one of like the 3 mages there.

yes i agree we were a little op with ice blast but they went too far with the nerf and now its just pathetic
either make the skill stronger almost to what it was
or make the cast time faster and cooldown less and lower the cost to use the skill
they shouldnt just leave it as it is because its under powered and barely comparable to its partner skill ice shards

Ice mage is ideal for short term burst dps while fire mage has more advantage on long term dps.

Ice mage would work better if you hav freeze.

Ice mage actually wins quite often in pvp, it's just rly about the skill orders. (lure shard blast bite shard freeze blast shard dead)

In order to be an effective ice mage you MUST have ice attune.

Do not expect ice mage to be top dps in terms of boss fights or pvp.

I think your builds might need a little tweaking maybe?

Ice mage is way powerful. probably the most powerful in the game.

90% of the time i get the kill.

even on longer fights such as aggy etc, quite often get the kill.

yes - you must have ice attune.

mostly the 1* wryms are one shot kills, sometimes 2 (withthe above build)
