Im on world Rosemerta and was wondering if any 'high' level mages could give me pointers on how i should level and what skills to use. I do find myself in the arena often also. I am going to be a firemage and so far i use firebolt.
Have energy regens and some health regens so i dont think that will be to much of a problem.
Re: Build
#4Okay, for DPS as a fire mage, you'd be looking at maxing fire bolt and fire storm really soon. Keep lure at half of your max skill cap. (If your max skill cap is for example 20, keep lure at 9-11) Once you have the skill points available start maxing attunement. After these 4 skills are set, you have a few choices depending on whether you want survivability, more damage for your group or more dps for yourself.
Survivability - get a nice good energy shield. Can be useful in PvP situations when you're not a PvP build completely as well.
Supporting group - get a decent assassins lure. This pretty much boosts the damage of any person using pierce damage (rogues, rangers, and warriors that use spears/tridents)
DPS - since you're a fire mage, you want to make most out of your fire lure, and look at either adding cloak of fire, or incinerate to your dps. Pre-update, cloak of fire was pretty good, but now after update DPS is just not that great. Incinerate is probably the better option, but you can test both out to see which you prefer.
Your stats should be ONLY focus and vitality, in the ratio 3:2. If you have 400 skill points, you should have 240:160 as an example

For a PvP build, I would suggest an ice mage build until level 120+
Your build will look something like this:
-Maxed Ice shards
-Maxed Ice attunement
-A really high freeze to be able to freeze people around 20 levels higher than you
-A few points into energy shield
-Rest of your points into ice lure
Notice you're not putting any points into ice blast. This is okay, and you can still use blast for some good dps since attunement adds to ice blast damage.
During the fight, your skill layout should be: Ice shards --> Freeze --> Ice lure ... Wait a few seconds ... Ice blast --> Ice shards. That should pretty much take away at least 70% of your health, and you can pretty much either wait for freeze to cool down, or run a bit.
Your stats should be vitality to as much as you feel like you need, focus same as vitality, and the rest of your points into dexterity.
