takes hp and turns it into energy
the more points in the skill the more you can convert

It is also instantaneous when cast and, like eboost, can be cast on others, such as a warrior tank who needs energy immediately.

The only thing you're sacrificing is skill points. It really isn't worth it, just use energy boost.

wouldnt say so, some find how to use it correctly, also great for support mages, mostly now when im using full dps skills my energy goes down after 3-4 rounds of casting all my skills (frenzy once tho)
also one of the mages here said he didnt use any energy elix or pots or sigils cuz of sacrifice (with anc beastbone helm/trollbone helm + a bit of pts, it can be great)

Mages are 99% of the time more worried about their own energy, rather than their own. You would rarely find someone who has a mage as a main as a support. Every time I was support mage, I got really annoyed at my incompetency to kill the easiest boss PH, so went back to DPS in a day or two.
Ancient beast bone helm is also attained at what, level 150 or something? That's the only time sacrifice is worth your time. Putting points in it is a waste, I am speaking from experience.

Indeed.
