New battle mage build

#1
step 1: go full caster
step 2: admire your newfound potential to actually get kills on bosses
step 3: thank me on this thread and admit your previous incompetence

benefits of this radical new build:
-huge dps boost
-less energy problems
-don't have to waste time and wisdom lix to max wand ability
-makes cloaked mobs much easier to kill
-mitigates aoe damage (in case you weren't sure, once you get out of otherworld, bosses still do in fact have aoe skills)
-eliminates need for haste and attack lix
-you can sell those useless dmg boosting items to buy lix and not be so low level

*accepting input and suggestions to tweak this build, but only from non low-levels*

You once said that people must accept new ideas, or they will belive that their ideas still work.

Problem though, you cling onto full caster, without trying out the other options, which is what separates a good mage from a great mage. If you want a good build you must do research, yourself, and not be ignorant to other ideas, keep an open mind.

I found one great use where melee mages still apply, and it is for dps actually. (Works best for ice, but still useable with fire, if fast)

Dl wand-105 crush, 3000 speed
Offhand 200 axe(your element)-400 dmg, 210 strength

Crush is effected by strength and ability to make it do more damage

Axe's 210 strength will make you have 215, making 105 crush do around 500ish damage with high wand skill.

Dl wand on a heroic haste has a speed of 1200

Feature recently added-favorite items to quickswap.

Combine all this knowledge.

Fight while using focus weps(built like a caster), while your skills are cooling down switch to axe+wand(or just one, if your not fast enough) to do good damage while waiting(if same element axe it will be a good deal more dmg), instead of doing nothing as a full caster. And switch back to focus weps when spells are ready.

Result, more damage then a full caster, due to autos being used in between cooldowns.

(If anyone is going to say something about dl/edl grims skill being reset, just use wand and keep grim for offhand for said times, it will still do more dmg then just casting.)

DL/EDL grim cooldown is too long for it to matter. if your Mage is autoing, the axe with its 400 damage will likely do more damage overall.

I agree, however I added that incase people didn't think the same.

These right here were directed at me. Mods please lock this topic as it was simply a rant directed to make anyone else who participated in the unconventional Battle mage thread angry.

This will only work for ice, which has worse DPS than fire.

Most fire mages will have bolt skulls to maximise DPS, and you will be casting skills so quickly, you won't have time to auto attack therefore making the strength stat points useless.

Stick to caster, or make a rogue.

Neat idea furyion, try it and tell me how it works out lol. Here are a few reasons why it won't:

You only have about 2500 attack, meaning you will rarely even hit on any 6* edl or raid boss. Your damage would probably not average more than 400 per auto, and that is if you are wearing edl armor set. If you wear edl armor set you are losing out on 1200 fb dmg, 650 fs dmg, and potentially a lot more if you have a hrungnir helm

Let's say you hit for 400 on average, 1/4 of the time. Even on a heroic haste (which are expensive btw) you'll only have around 40 autos per minute. And you'll hit 10, maybe 15 if it's a low def boss. For a grand whopping total of 4000 dmg or so. Whereas a hrungnir skull alone is more than enough to cover that dps. Not including the lagging skills due to autos, the lower dmg without focus offhand and occult, etc

Also, you won't be able to use sigs so you're wasting more pots and e lix every fight as well

I'm not a fan of cookie cutter builds; I'm a fan of maximizing my potential with the gear I own at any given time. If the melee build was actually decent I'd give it a shot. But it's not. I was one of the first dps druids back in the day, getting 3 of my clan's first couple hrungnir kills using a melee build. Times change, and so does gear and game mechanics. That same logic would no longer apply if I translated it over to my mage, for obvious reasons. Based purely on common sense and basic math, it is easy to see why a melee mage is far worse than a pure caster.

There's my argument, now try to prove me wrong. With facts; not with opinions

Read it again, built like a caster(equip and skill/stat pts), just switching weapons(between auto and focus weapons). Turning downtime while waiting for skills into something productive is only logical.
