New Mage - Love the Game so far...but

#1
I read the mages guide pretty well through, as well as the many other build guides. All a GREAT help so thank you to all the posters.

The game is great and I'm so happy I've found this while I was looking for Order n Chaos 2. This game totally fits my playstyle and seems to have more "mature" serious gamers.

That said, I've been having trouble figuring out what gear to get at v early levels.

I'm lvl 20 after only a day so I'm sure I'll hit 100+ in not too long, but I'd like some advice on what gear to start with.

So, the best items that dont have a lvl req are 1st on my list.

A good wep to suppliment my magic damage. The Wand of Masters (or something like that was mentioned I think...).

Other items that would be useful.

I'd like to get a decent gear set now, and not have to worry about it again til 50-80ish.

The armor quest line is heavily suggested in the guide but I'm having a little trouble finding the start npcs (or maybe there's quests I need to do first).

Sorry if this is a bit all over the place...basically the idea is this:

Could someone please expand on the guides already given for a v young mage who wants to start of strong.

I look forward to meeting you all in game. I'm a mmorpg vet from way back to the Ultima Online and Asheron Call days, and as I have moved exclusively into mobile gaming, and am totally sick of the arcane/pocket/kiddy legends crap that's out there now I am totally excited about making this my main game.

Thanks so much! If this info is already posted in another thread, I apologize for not finding it first, though I did spend a good deal of time reading through the stickies.

PS- if this is more appropriate for the introduction major please feel free to move it over.

First off, ignore magic damage from weapons. Those are close to useless. You will only need to focus on damage from your spells, and the only way to do that early game is to simply place skill points into the appropriate spells, depending on whether you are ice or fire.

The level requirement keeps changing throughout the updates on the quest armour, but I think it's 60 now? You'll need to access an area called Stonevale to start the quests. You really shouldn't worry about armour until then, to put this into perspective I had the armour you start the game with until I was 90 or so.

Once you hit 50 you can opt to buy some focus boosting gear from the luxury shops, but they are quite expensive.

Until then, try and get attunement rings off people since they have no level requirement and provide a large boost to your damage.

Thanks so much for quick reply!

Okay, so no worry on armor til at least 50 and prob not til 90.

Weapon is pretty useless until then as well.

Rings of attunement r my best bet for early gear.

I'll stick to leveling as quick as possible then until I get to about 100. What's a fair price to ask for?

Should I just pretty much do every quest I can get my hands on? Or is there a good place to power level? If I'm going to use knowlege lix, what's best npc for me to focus on?

Also, there are a ton of skills ive read about that I have no found yet. Will I just come across these during natural gameplay, or r there some I should seek out asap?

Lastly, are offhand skill books any use as a substitute for a wep? Mounts too? I saw one for 25k I can use until lvl50. Or is that mostly vanity/fashion.

Thanks again for your help!!

Id just like to correct u to Firebolt (Fire attack), Ice Shards (Ice attack), Cloak of Fire (Fire shield), Lure of Fire (Fire debuff), the rest are useless to lvl. I havent been a mage starter without lux so I'll avoid giving u an advice on what skills to use as low lvl starter, I would just recommend to see how u keep up with energy, using a skill such as Energy Boost (usually most recommended), or Sacrifice (a skill a bit harder to get) which takes some of ur hp and refills some of ur energy (takes less health than it gives energy), but thats only recommended when lvling with a druid which I recommend doing when needed.

Hello shierkahn

Like armo said ignore magic damage. In fact don't bothet with main weapon as all when you start playing as a mage. They do very low damage and your main damage output comes from your skills.

For gear you should just stick with the questline armour in my opinion. Don't bother with fancy shop armour and weapons, since they are way too expensive and get useless when you gain a few more levels.
At level 60 you can start the warden quest. You can get a piece each 5 levels till level 80. You will need to collect disc fragments, most high levels have an abundance of those and are probably willing to spare you a few.

On the contrary your gear and offhand do matter. Try get items with energy regen as a mage. I have no clur what your budget is and if you are willing to buy platinum, but try get a masters grimoire, heroic amulet of rejuvenation and items that boost your firebolt/iceshards or focus/vitality.

you read the guides do I suppose you know if you want to be a fire or ice mage?

If you want to be a firemage try to get the skills:
-fire atunement
-firestorm

If you want to be an ice mage try to get the skills:
-ice atunement
-ice blast

If you need specific questions about your build you can always pm me.

when chosing to become a fire mage/ice mage, make sure u know what ur looking into first. which ever one u chose, try to get ice or fire auttunement (u cant use both at the same time) they usually run for about 5-10k on android servers, and im guessing it is the same for ios.

after that, u would want to either get ice blast, or firestorm, depending on if u wanna play fire or ice mage.

firestorm is pricey, if u have money and want to play fire, get it, it is usually like shadowstrike, it can cost around 20k-50k (atleast on my server donn) so firestorm is pricey.

iceblast is cheap, 5k-10k, so its better if u have a low budget.

now comes damage, from my experience, and my opinion, i find fire more useful, the skills recast/cast faster, so u can get more hits. ice skills have slow recast/cast times, but they do huge amounts of damage, but if ur mob is left with around 10% health, it will take a while to hit the skill again, plus it could be evaded.

so for fire, firebolt has medium damage, fast recast, instant cast. firestorm has medium-high damage, medium recast. fast cast.

so fire is medium damage with fast cast, and fast-medium recast.

for ice, ice shards is medium-high dmg, medium recast, fast cast. iceblast has high damage, slow recast, slow cast.

so ice is high damage, with medium cast, and medium-slow recast.

ppls opinions may vary, but i like fire, cause if the mob evades ur skill, u will be able to put damage back on it quicker.

the skills i use for my fire (i group lvl so i dont use energy shield) are

firebolt
firestorm
fire autt
fire lure
ice shards (dont max it, place extra points in here, it is for extra dps)

hope i helped, pm me for anymore details

Armo, Paggas, Criminal...thanks sooooooo much!

Such great info and great help.

The overall sense I'm getting is that I should really try and focus on my skills and armor, and not weapon (as it says too in the guides). And too focus on fire or ice.

One thing I didn't realize when I first wrote is how cheap skill redo books are...so that makes me much less cautious about spending them.

That said, I like the idea of focusing on fire. Higher dps is always the way to go in my mind. I'm not so worried about price. I'm an adult with a job and can spend a few bucks (if my wife doesn't notice! :) )

And it also sounds like I really shouldn't worry about gear too much before lvl 50 because anything I get is not too powerful and will be replaced soon.

So again, my goal right now is just to lvl as fast as possible. And it seems like random quest lines give out good exp so it's best to just explore like a good ol newb and talk/kill everyone/thing.

I do have a nice little 10k I got from a yule chest. But the advice here would be just to save this, correct?

And also a few knowlege lix. Those r best to be saved for higher lvl, not used now to power lvl?

That's my last 2 questions...promise :)!

Thanks again!!
