I recently started using lure of magic (base level) with my half way maxed ice lure and have noticed my blasts and shards hitting harder. Is lure of magic something I should put points into as a dps ice mage at level 157?

Magic Lure will help Druids. This sill will lower nature magic resistance. Really only useful at Prot. I'd remove it quickly unless you are lvling with Druids.

Useful for bossing in general.

No. Mages have fire and ice. Druids have magic.

You should also have your class lure maxed when ever possible

Yes. Druids aren't the only class capable of dealing magic damage, it's just that their dps skills, minus stinging swarm, deal solely magic damage. You'll find magic damage everywhere but usually as a direct damage add from a piece of gear to the player's damage stat. That said, a magic lure would only help a Mage who chooses to auto for some reason by only a negligible amount.
