How to play out mage Armour?

Hey, just wondering how i play mage Armour, do i get warden or not wear warden and astral and skip straight to frozen using spiritshadow. So just wondering how i should use Armour. Thankyou:)

The quest armors (Warden-Doch Gul) are upgrades of each other you need to complete one to do the next. (correct me if im wrong its been a while) spirit is OK but as a caster I stuck to the quest line armors until beastbone.
