Freeze

Right now, freeze works on a very slow refresh timer, about same as energy shield. The main problem with freeze is the fact that you are required to put a significant number of points into it to get it to work at higher lvls. At 106, I have to almost max out my points into the spell in order to have it freeze my target. It's 5lvls per point invested. Don't have enough points? Spell doesn't work at all.
They should modify this spell to be a effectiveness at lvl, if you are I'm with a little less effectiveness, then you don't have to put any points into it or be tied to freeze length, the higher your pts, the longer it lasts and effectiveness increases. Also, the spell needs to be unavoidable for normal mobs.
With cloak and energy shield, there is little value in trying to max this out, you would want to at least drop cloak but then your value to a boss fight is significantly lowered. I really thought this would be a good solo skill but currently, it's like firestorm, sitting with zero points, another almost worthless spell. I don't know why beta testers didn't figure this out, seems like a big oversight.

I just got this spell today. I put 19 skill points in it. I thought the animations were pretty cool. It allowed me to throw up an energy shield in the middle of a fight, which I thought was pretty neat.
HOWEVER since it takes so many skill points to be effective at high levels, it makes the spell almost useless. It means that you need to take skill points from other important spells. It worked good in PvP, but I still lost a lot because overall damge was weak due to putting the points into Freeze as opposed to other spells.
Some might like this spell, but I won't be using it in my arsenal.

With all the skills available I think I could build a decent mage if they gave me 2 skill points per level. Maybe.

I didn't play a mage in beta but I remember mentioning (before beta started I think) that freeze should add some dot. I can't tell you how that would work out in PvP... but it would at least make it a more usable skill.

When freeze was introduced It was great skill I wanted damage over time added to it and also incenrate used to carry on working while freeze was on simply so that the enemy mana didn't recharge and not break the freeze but it was deemed to powerful and was literally nerfed down to what you have now I did complain that it does nothing but allow Mage a few secs breathing space to allow a recast I also pointed out that all of those points been spent on freeze would be better spent on energy boost than on some skill that requires a huge number of points and gives very little in return the first verion was awsome and I would have spent points on as for this version I haven't even handed in quest because it's a pointless skill

That is insightful. Thank you.

Yep. that is what i was saying though i didn't have the beta exp. Hope they tune it. Maybe switch the level cap with duration so more points = longer duration. That would be a signficantly better tradeoff- wouldn't require max points to affect 120lvl mobs...

Yes if it did some damage upon thawing it would be useful and neat. Mabye even just 1/8 to 1/10 iceshards damage at the same level would be a nice little damage addition.

I like the idea of it lasting an amount of time or until damage is done plus I don't think you would have that many complaints from mages who have allready put points into it

If it did what it said it did that would be ok. Freeze the opponent until damage is taken. I could freeze it for 2 min and recharge before breaking it open. At least make it last as long as bolas.
